Binge drinking is common on college campuses, as is alcohol abuse and even dependence. How do college students (and how does anyone) draw a line between abuse of a substance and dependence on it? How can one use alcohol in a recreational sense without becoming addicted or having it interfere with daily life? How might this be a more difficult challenge while in college? Is it possible to wholeheartedly ensure that alcohol use will never become dysfunctional?

Use your own examples or those of your (anonymous) friends to illustrate the influence of alcohol on the college experience. Even if you are not a traditional college student per se, you can still have a voice in this debate, and possibly a more objective one.
