– read the assigned chapters carefully and take notes on key ideas, facts and arguments.  As you read, you should always try to figure out what each author’s main argument or thesis is – what is the main point they are trying to make?  How does he or she go about proving that argument – what factual evidence do they use to support their points?  Try to anticipate what possible questions might be.  Below are some issues and questions to think about with respect to each reading.
