Assignment:

1.) Salut D’amour: Research the history and story behind the composition and the composer. Share why the back story resonates (or maybe doesn’t) with the music.

2.) Salut D’amour: The original was for violin and piano. I personally love the original so much, and it’s impossible to translate all the notes from two instruments, all the textures, dynamics, colors, etc. to one tiny guitar. Why do musicians bother with transcribing music across instruments though? What is gained and what is lost in the arrangement?

3.) Tanti Anni Prima: Research the history and story behind the composition and the composer. Share why the back story resonates (or maybe doesn’t) with the music.

4.) Tanti Anni Prima: Compare the violin/piano performance to my guitar performance. Again, share your thoughts on what is gained and lost in all of this.

5.) Tanti Anni Prima: I added the accordion arrangement. The composer, Astor Piazzolla was a bandoneon player, and an amazing one. You can find clips of his performances on YouTube. Why is the accordion performance appropriate here? Now, compare the performance of the guitar, violin/piano, and the accordion.
