In lessons five through eight, you learned additional information concerning personality psychology. This written assignment will allow you to provide practical application of concepts learned from lessons five, six, and seven, as well as concepts learned from lessons one through four. Continuing on with the topic of personality assessments, you will need to review the supplemental article provided in lesson 8.
Many organizations rely on pre-selection assessments as part of the selection process. Assessments often measure the personality, motivation, and values of applicants. Despite the wide-ranging use of such tools, there is still a debate on the appropriateness of incorporating pre-selection assessments in the hiring process. Review the articles by Kantrowitz, Dawson, &Fetzer (2011) and Yei-Fang Lin, and Kleiner (2004) in addition to other related readings.
After reading the supplemental article,answer the following questions in a 2 page essay:
1. Based on your knowledge of the major personality theories, why would an employer elect to use personality profiles in the interviewing process?
2. Given your knowledge of personality theories and testing, is this practice ethical or meaningful? Explain your answer.
