Question Empowered to Serve are nurse led community education programs aimed… Empowered to Serve are nurse led community education programs aimed at training volunteers( many are nurses and nursing student) in the community to go out and educate individuals on the symptoms of stroke, risk factors of stroke, stroke types, and when to seek medical attention. The volunteers are known as peer educators who follow specific stroke related lesson plans, providing flyers and handout to community members (Omelchenko, et al., 2018). Reasons why individuals do not seek help are due to lack of ambulance transportation or the ability to recognize stroke symptoms. Those that were more likely to seek medical attention were likely to recognize stroke symptoms and have a higher education level (Omelchenko, et al., 2018). Having volunteer who speak a second language allows for a greater opportunity to educate more community members. Please provide further discussion to include intext citation and references.
