According to Kearney-Nunnery (2020), Imogene King’s Conceptual System Model prioritizes all people to have their basic needs me to be able to function in their socially designated roles. There are three systems that King focuses on with this conceptual model in her Theory of Goal Attainment. The three systems are personal systems, interpersonal systems, and social systems (Kearney-Nunnery, 2020). The personal system concepts are perception, self, growth and development, body image, time, personal-space, and learning (Petiprin, 2020). The interpersonal system concepts include interaction, communication, transaction, role, stress, and coping (Petiprin, 2020). The concepts of social systems are organization, authority, power, status, decision making, and control (Petiprin, 2020). Petiprin (2020) discussed that roles, stress, space, and time affect goals of attainment. Myra Levine’s Conservation Model is focused on maintaining an individual’s wholeness or integrity while responding to challenges in the environment and to be able to correspond within the environment (Kearney-Nunnery, 2020). According to Kearney-Nunnery (2020), there are three environmental challenges in Levine’s Conservation Model. Environmental challenges include perceptual environment, operational environment, and conceptual environment (Kearney-Nunnery, 2020). Perceptual environment consists of individuals responding with their sense organs, operational environment includes pollutants, such as radiation and microorganisms and Conceptual environment consists of concepts, ideas, language, and intervention (Kearney-Nunnery, 2020). People respond to the environment by four integrated processes that cause a response. Organismic responses include fight or flight mechanism, inflammatory-immune response, stress response, and perceptual awareness (Kearney-Nunnery, 2020). Ungvarsky (2020) discussed that Levine’s model teaches nurses how to assess and respond to these factors to help patient’s in achieving their goal to promoting the patient’s adaptation and to maintain wholeness.
