Now not only do we have to pay attention and be mindful of increased workloads as a result of the pandemic, but what is the best way to state up to date in a situation that can constantly change. I think this is a valid issue because it calls up the idea that we need to make sure that all nurses have access to training and resources that are required in order to do our jobs well and keep all patients safe and the time to do so as well. The provision affected here would be provisions 4, 5, 7, and 8. These provisions all discuss nurses having the authority and accountability for their practice and decision making but also how nurses need to continue their professional and personal growth. This can only be done through research and scholarly inquiry as indicated in provision 7 and the ability to collaborate as indicated in provision 8 (ANA, 2015).A global issue in nursing is the burnout. Because of longer hours that are needed to be worked with the pandemic and the requirements of nurses to be ready for anything during a pandemic has caused a lot of nurses to quit. With the emotional exhaustion of many nurses and the frustration that this pandemic has brought about between patients, their families and nurses, many nurses have experienced burnout and a lack of desire to continue in the field (Mudallal, R.H., et. al, 2017). While the pandemic made this worse, it shows how burnout isn’t always affected by one factor, but rather a multitude of factors that come together. The provisions affected here would be 1, 2, and 5. I mention provisions 1 and 2 because it can be difficult to continue to display the amount of compassion and commitment as you typically do when you are experiencing fatigue and other burnout symptoms. Provision 5 is the most important one here because it is about owing yourself the duty of promoting health and safety which relates to knowing when you need a break and can’t work 80 hours every week, even during a pandemic (ANA, 2015).
