Innovation and Virtual Environments

The
article on strategies in innovation I chose took a slightly different
spin on innovation. The article discusses the implications on the
economy if the United States does not continue to invest and build in
innovations for the future (Hausman, Johnston, 2014). The
article states that strategically planning through government policy in
the area of innovations on a global front can have an impact on the
economy. The article goes on to give a strategic review on how to
increase innovations in industry through strategic planning.

The
article I chose for strategic planning in a virtual environment is a
case review of ten European countries coming together to identify common
barriers of building renewable energy and energy efficiency
(Dvarioniene, et. al., 2015) in a virtual setting called Energy Labs.
The Energy Lab teams used innovative methodology to identify
stakeholders and use a virtual setting at a community level to engage
stakeholders to increase community knowledge and acceptance on Energy
policies. Because of the costs of melding so many stakeholders from
government policymakers to community residents from ten different
countries, a virtual setting was chosen to engage stakeholders, which
proved to be a success.
