CASE STUDY ANALYSIS–HUMANISTIC AND EXISTENTIAL THEORY

The Module Assessment in Week 8 is a personality theory case study analysis that will be developed during Weeks 2 – 8. The Module Assessment is based on a case study found in your Learning Resources, “The Case of Mrs. C.”

This week you examined personality theories from the humanistic and existential theoretical orientation. Supported by the information you gathered in your Personality Theory Matrix, analyze the case of Mrs. C based on one theory from the humanistic or existential orientation. The case study analysis considers Mrs. C’s symptoms (including cultural considerations) and offers relevant assessments and interventions for her case. Additionally, it must be supported by scholarly materials from research of reputable sources.

ASSIGNMENT (1 PAGE)

Based on the information you gain from the personality case study, “The Case of Mrs. C,” complete the following case study analysis: 

• Analyze Mrs. C’s symptoms, including cultural considerations, from the perspective of a key idea from a theorist that you identified from the humanistic or existential theoretical orientation.
• Offer suggestions for assessments and interventions to use with Mrs. C from the perspective of a key idea from a theorist that you identified from the humanistic or existential theoretical orientation.

Integrate Resources and scholarly materials from your own research in your analyses and provide citations and references in APA format. References should be combined in one list at the end of the document.

Based on previous outcomes of something that has occurred (odds ratio), logically, it gives you the conditional probability that it will continue to occur (Warner, 2013). This is based on a logistic regression. In other words, the regression tests you run to analyze data will yield results proving or disproving a hypothesis.

Whereas a binary logistic regression occurs when the Y variables are predicted from the X variables and do not need the assumptions (Warner, 2013). The goal is to analyze what the odds are of a given outcome. There are linear relationships between both variables as well. The variables have to be independent of each other. If you add to that assumption, the odds will either reinforce the probability or go against it.

Using a binary logistic regression means taking additional steps would be the best way to analyze the data collected. Because you want to show that everything is linked to each other in your study, it would mean taking the extra steps to prove that the hypothesis is valid and that the original idea is what it says it is, especially when a simple regression test would not work with multiple variables.

When do we behave in moral ways, and when do we take action that is immoral? Morality refers to the way in which we determine what is “right” or “wrong.” Kohlberg says there are three levels of moral reasoning: pre-conventional morality, conventional morality, and post conventional morality. Your moral compass may be altered depending how your overall decision will impact you, friends, family and/or society. Read about the Heinz Dilemma in Module 9.9 in your webtext for more information about this topic; remember that this refers to Kohlberg’s experiment, asking people what they would do in hypothetical scenarios. 

Successful completion of this activity involves the creation of a multimedia presentation (audio or video) to demonstrate your ability to describe how Kohlberg’s theory of moral reasoning could be used to explain how you’ve resolved a moral dilemma in the past. Here are some questions to answer within your presentation. But first, please watch the following video: 

• Describe a moral dilemma that you’ve been faced with in the past. 
• Which level and stage(s) of Kohlberg’s theory do you believe you were working from to resolve the dilemma? Explain how you reached this conclusion (be sure to include your resolution). 
• Describe how you might have resolved the dilemma if you had been operating from other levels and stages of moral reasoning. 
• Make sure to support your presentation with key references related to the module.

• The assignment should be written on a graduate level and references used should be cited using appropriate in-text citations and documented in a reference list using 7th ed. APA Style.
