Requirements
1. The assignment requires you to conduct independent research and locate two (2) articles
dealing with issues related to business ethics from business news articles accessible from the
internet and/or using library resources.
2. The task requires you to analyse the ethical issues within each article drawing on the
knowledge acquired by you in the weekly lectures and case study discussions.
3. The articles should be dated after October 1, 2021 and accessible for the marker to view from
a weblink that is required to be provided as part of your task and along with your analyses.
4. Articles must deal with issues related to business ethics. Please ensure that your articles
are business ethics related and do not cover social, cultural or political issues.
The task should be presented as one document and contain:
• the title of each article along with the weblink showing the internet site location.
• Date of each article with weblink (it must be dated 1 October 2021 or after; if not that
article discussion will score 0).
• Overview of the essence of each article with a brief discussion of the identified ethical
issue(s).
• In depth discussion of the ethical issues. How is each issue defined and in what way do
these issues present themselves in the article? Specifically explain what happened; why
it happened, factors which contributed, and consequences.
• Stakeholder Impact- briefly discuss impact (positive and/or negative) on at least two
stakeholders.
• a discussion that links the essence of the article and ethical issues(s) to the theory
(referenced theory to support your ideas is expected and essential)*.
• Your recommendations as a manager to resolve the issues identified in the article
irrespective of whether a resolution has been mentioned or not in the article.
• a conclusion in which you proffer an opinion on the article’s ethical issue(s).
• an academic reference list that is constructed correctly (using Deakin Harvard https://
www.deakin.edu.au/students/studying/study-support/referencing/harvard
• Word Limit: 1500 words per article (10% extra i.e. 150 extra words is acceptable).

Submission Instructions

Please submit online through the dropbox within the unit site on or before due date. Any work you
submit may be checked by electronic or other means for the purposes of detecting collusion and/
or plagiarism. After you submit an assignment through your CloudDeakin unit site, you will receive
an email at your Deakin email address confirming submission. You should check that you can see
your assignment in the Submissions view of the Assignment dropbox folder after upload, and check
for as well retain the email receipt.

Assignment Extensions Assignment extensions are as per Faculty policy for extensions.
Please send in your request to the unit chair along with relevant documentation in support of your
request for extension and the work done on your task till that point in time. Without these in
support of your request, no extension request can be considered by the unit chair.

Any work that is submitted late without an approved extension will be subject to a marking penalty,
or may not be marked at all as per faculty policy.

•Building evidence of your experiences, skills and knowledge (Portfolio) – Building a portfolio that
evidences your skills, knowledge and experience will provide you with a valuable tool to help you
prepare for interviews and to showcase to potential employers. There are a number of tools that you
can use to build a portfolio. You are provided with cloud space through OneDrive, or through the
Portfolio tool in the Cloud Unit Site, but you can use any storage repository system that you like.
Remember that a Portfolio is YOUR tool. You should be able to store your assessment work,
reflections, achievements and artefacts in YOUR Portfolio. Once you have completed this assessment
piece, add it to your personal Portfolio to use and showcase your learning later, when applying for
jobs, or further studies. Curate your work by adding meaningful tags to your artefacts that describe
what the artefact represents.
