Research Ethics Case Study

For your analysis in this discussion, be sure to choose a different ethical theory from the ones you used for analysis in Units 2 and 3. Note: This will be critical for your course project.

Choose one of the issues in research ethics in Chapter 5 of your Campbell text, and find a case study about it. Use the Coughlin resource, Case Studies in Public Health Ethics and/or the Center for Practical Bioethics Web site (linked in the Resources) to find a relevant case study.
Using an ethical theory from Chapter 2 and a perspective from Chapter 3, analyze the case study.

Clearly identify the study you have chosen to analyze in your post, and include a reference. If your case study includes an analysis, you may use it as a resource to add to your own analysis as long as you quote, paraphrase, and cite appropriately.

In your analysis:

State the facts of the case study as briefly as possible.
State the ethical theory you are using.
Add any perspectives you think are valid.
Using the theory and the perspectives, come to an ethical decision and demonstrate how you arrived there.

Response Guidelines

Read the posts of your peers and respond to at least two, by comparing their theories and perspectives with your own and evaluating them in light of sound reasoning. For example, what are the strengths and weaknesses you see in others’ and your own positions?
