Introduction
The security all over
the world has become a global issue in the workplace, institution, school and
offices. The reason why citizens should be permitted to carry concealed weapons
is because they ought to defend for themselves. Self-defense is important to
any civilians even when not armed because there is possibility to mitigate
those chances involving attacks. Since
every citizen has freedom to life, the citizens are not supposed to carry
weapons in their workplace (Franze, 1998).
The reason why the citizens do not deserve carrying weapons to their
workplace is because of the risk whereby citizens may become lawless and
abusive to freedom. Certainly, it is also known that every freedom is
accompanied by limits regarding lawlessness.
Thesis
statement
Thesis states that, allowing
citizens to carry the concealed weapons to their workplace poses potential risks
to workplace violence. Certainly, when a right to carry a concealed handgun is
proposed, there is fear and hysteria about blood in streets. Most of the
opponents may suffer from fear of change, fear of unknown and also the fear of
their citizens and neighbors. Considering this issue, the right self-defense
through possession of weapons should retreat into fear for violent criminals
(Lott, 2010). Civilians should not carry guns to their workplace because most
of them are improperly trained or are undertrained persons hence carrying their
loaded guns put people in risks of being killed or even injured unintentionally
or even intentionally. It is also quite difficult for the law enforcement to
identify who are the real perpetrators during the shooting. This thesis
addresses that allowing people to carry concealed guns in workplace or in densely
populated cities and even in crowded sub-highways is a recipe pose for a
disaster.
Describe
the history and status of the issue and provide an overview of the problem(s)
that need to be addressed.
Moreover, people with
the permit to own weapons are law-abiding and quite often they kill people in
the road rage incidents, after a long argument in their socialization and
perhaps domestic disputes. The problem involves presence of handgun escalation
which might result to homicide. Most of people have died in the hands of
concealed weapons law-abiding. Certainly, this may continue if the state
legislators Act would not respond immediately to this issue and fix the laws
(Lott, 2003). The law-abiding people who carry guns have contributed to a big
increase in gun ownership. Also allowing citizens to have right to carry
firearms for self-protection leads to negative consequences which has been
claimed by the critics. The evidence to the problem illustrates that the
concealed weapons law is dangerous and major threat to civilians. The act of
carrying concealed handgun increase chances of confrontation escalating and it
also turns to be lethal.
Explain
the first problem (economic, social, political, environmental, complexity,
inequity, ethical/moral, etc.) and provide support for your claims.
The first problem
regarding the use of concealed weapons is that there is considerable attention
in popular press as well as among safety and health professionals. The fatal
and non-fatal violence in the workplace determines the actual prevention of gun
possession. The problem has much issues regarding social in common. The way to
which many states have passed concealed weapons laws, the workplace have to
develop violence prevention policy in order to establish system for documenting
and eliminating violent incidents in the workplace (Franze, 1998). When people are in the workplace, this is
considered as a social challenge because the use of concealed weapons may
threaten the lives of citizens. Therefore, the employees have to recognize
potential problems of the workplace violence and their obligations so as to do
what’s possible to prevent them. This means that, the long term efforts in
reducing level of violence in US society addresses variety of the social issues
like education and environmental justice.
Explain
the second problem (economic, social, political, environmental, complexity,
inequity, ethical/moral, etc.) and provide support for your claims.
The second problem
identified is economic factor both in any form of business or workplace to
which it sounds dangerous for the employers. The employers who allow customers
on business premises have to provide a reasonable safe environment (Lott,
2003). There have to be legal and relations departments to assess threats of
violence. Allowing people to be harmed in the workplace contributes to unsafe
environment.
Explain
the third problem (economic, social, political, environmental, complexity,
inequity, ethical/moral, etc.) and provide support for your claims.
The third problem
identified is ethical issues regarding the possession of concealed weapons in
the workplace. If workplace lacks standards ethical, the employers are at risks
of losing the valuable employees as well as customers (Lott, 2010). Allowing
citizens to carry the concealed weapons to their workplace contributes to
ethics effects whereby some common unethical behaviors in the workplace emerge.
Rationale
of carrying weapons to the workplace
The actual satisfactory
of the employee in the workplace is feeling safe and free from threats of any
sort of physical violence. Carrying concealed handgun in public is allowed for
non-law enforcement officials. In a clear concise, the opponents of concealed weapon
carry argues that there is an increased gun ownership which attributed to more
gun crimes and unintended gun injuries. There is threat to the society in
regards to social perspectives whereby the society would not be safer by having
much guns in the streets (Lott, 2010). Even though there are laws pertaining
concealed weapons policy, the employees possesses them and are allowed by the
law to possess weapons but these weapons are prohibited on any company property
or location. In order to cut down the risk involved in gun violence in the
workplaces, there are policies which ban anyone, employee or even visitors from
carrying their concealed weapons in the business or company’s premises.
Rationale for the laws is that most of
Americans have right to bear arms in defending themselves. The rules
prohibiting guns in workplace have been indentified to be upheld by most
courts. However, wherever one of the rules makes concealed weapons it creates
controversy because some people feel strongly on both sides of the issue. Most of the organizations have either formal
or in informal weapons policies in their workplace. Majority of these organizations tends to
investigate the actual background of their potential employees (Franze,
1998). Considering the prevalence of weapons
policies in workplace, many of organization put in action the precautions so as
to reduce risk of workplace violence by implementing policies which outlines
their expectations of employee behavior. The workplace weapons policies extend beyond
the confirmed violations and establish the procedures for handling suspected
violations of weapons policy. The workplace weapon policies play a major role
for reducing risk of evidence in workplace by setting behavioral expectation
for established employees.
Provide
a concluding paragraph that summarizes the stated problems and promises a
solution.
The first problem
regarding the use of concealed weapons is that there is considerable attention
in popular press as well as among safety and health professionals. The second
problem identified is economic factor both in any form of business or workplace
to which it sounds dangerous for the employers (Franze, 1998). The third problem identified is ethical issues
regarding the possession of concealed weapons in the workplace. The possible
solution is to develop a workplace policy targeting mission statement and code
of conduct. The other solution is to provide the workplace with ethics training
to the employees.
