Answer each question with a short paragraph.

  1. Cite what you see as the major strengths and weaknesses of the Field et al. (2013) Natsal-3 study. List and explain 1-2 of each.
  2. Lindau et al. (2007) reported several disparities with regard to the sexuality of men and women at older ages. According to their data, what appears to be most important for predicting sexual activity and problems – health, aging, or something else?
  3. One of the intents of the Copen, Chandra, & Febo-Vazquez (2016) report from the National Survey of Family Growth was to give attention to “…patterns of association, or concordance, between sexual behavior, sexual attraction, and sexual orientation to identify the level of consistency among these three measures” (p. 2). Most of the men and women who were attracted “only to the opposite sex” identified as heterosexual/straight. What did the men and women who identified as heterosexual/straight report about their same- and opposite-sex behavior? Why is that important?
  4. Herbenick et al. (2010) outlined several ways their findings may be of use for sexual health educators and clinicians. Briefly explain one that they mentioned. Can you think of any they did not mention?
  5. The Kilpatrick et al. (2000) study considered both experienced (i.e. physical, sexual) and witnessed violence as variables. Roughly how much did the different forms of victimization elevate risk of substance use disorders? What do you think contributes to those odds?
