Select and provide a critical review of an editorial based on a
current topic related to respiratory disease. All citations and references will be in AMA format (10th Ed.).VERY IMPORTANT TO REFERENCE IN AMA FORMAT PLEASE

The topic will be of your choice.
Topic Article Guidelines

1. The journal will need to be from one of the following accepted journals: The
American Journal of Critical Care Medicine, Chest, The New England Journal of
Medicine, or Respiratory Care.

2. The article cannot be older than three years from August 2017.
A full journal editorial is required

3. All citations and references must be presented in American Medical Association
formatting (10th Edition)

The paper will need to identify which one of the three types of editorials your selected
editorial best aligns itself with and why

Next, provide a a review, in great detail, of the
editorial and whether or not your selected editorial does or does not meet each of the
five criteria listed above. Again, here are the five criteria:
•

Background information that explains the situation briefly
•

A stance that tells the reader exactly what is the writer’s position
•

Reasons to support the writer’s stance are based on fact and number usually
three, but more or less can work if they are explained in detail.

• A rebuttal of the opposing side, explaining what the other side would
say about the situation, and why the writer believes this is wrong
• A conclusion and solutions are offered, that will fit the writer’s stance

Formatting
The paper will need to meet the following formatting requirements:
Microsoft Word®, version 2000 or higher
Proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation will need to be used

The assignment will need to be at least three pages with double spacing.
The font type will need to be either New Times Roman or Arial.
The font color will be black
The font needs to be size 12pt.
All citations and references will be in AMA format (10th Ed.).
