Venture Opportunity Screening Indicator (Excel) and Summary (Word)

A client (an investor) has asked you to review the “Structural Genomics Software Provider”business plan and to provide them with your analysis of the viability of it for investment. See case posted at Canvas.

1. Review and analyze the VOS analysis presented in the text, including figures 2.8 and 2.9. Comment on the adequacy or completeness of the VOS tool presented. As discussed in-class, if you were an investor, what are some other variables (4 or 5) you would consider important to assist with the screening of business plans for potential investment? FOR EXAMPLE, YOU MAY WISH TO SUBSTITUTE AN EXIT STRATEGY (IN YEARS), in place of “IPO Potential.” You may wish to include these variables (or supplement) the screening tools when preparing your submission.

2. Next, review the “Structural G” Business Plan and complete the VOS Indicator (see EXCEL file). Remember, if a factor from the VOS is not contained in the business plan, note this on the Indicator, and score as n/a (not applicable).

Summarize your review of the idea contained in the Business Plan and your rankings for each of the four factor categories from the VOS Indicator. Be sure to comment on the Structural Genomics idea as a viable investment opportunity.

3. Finally, Submit the EXCEL file as well as your 2-page written summary of the raised in items #1 and 2 above. Double-spaced is fine, times new roman, 12-font, traditional margins.
