Presentation on Assisted Living Facilities

This project allows students to explore the growth of women-owned businesses in various industries allowing students to evaluate the obstacles women face and/or are still facing in business. Students will also provide a deeper perspective of industries women dominate in business, exploring why they dominate these industries and how. This project will also allow students to explore the entrepreneurial landscape in Baltimore and dive deeper into the history of Baltimore’s small business community.

Part 1 – Research (75 points)- Students will conduct research on the industry they chose. Students will create a presentation that identifies the important elements of the industry listed below

• The history of the industry
• Throughout history, what was women’s position in the industry
• In Baltimore, what does the data show in this industry as it relates to:
  • Number of businesses in this industry
  • Number of women-owned businesses in this industry
  • Number of minority women-owned businesses in this industry
  • Business success rate in this industry
• Who are the key players nationally and locally in this industry?
• What does the future look like for this industry?
