For this week’s discussion you are required to listen to
“Blacks in Houston Must Guard Against Displacement” found on
www.blackagendareport.com by Nellie Bailey and Glen Ford and Dr. Gerald Horne.
Research the ideas presented by Dr. Horne on working class leadership and black
displacement following natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina.
Discuss if you agree with the assertion certain cities are hostile to
African-Americans and lower income individuals. Conduct research to
determine if other cities have experienced similar displacement of certain
ethnic groups after a natural disaster and detail what methodology could be
adopted to prevent such “forced” migration.
