Discussion #4: In-group/out-group dynamics in populist politics, sociology homework help

The goal for this activity is to solidify our understanding of in-group/out-group dynamics by examining the prominent public display of such dynamics in recent political campaigns from around the world.

Before posting to the board, please watch the three short video clips about recent populist political campaigns in Spain, France, and the United States.

Then, write up a discussion board post where you:

1. Identify the different out-groups each of these politicians rails against.
2. Apply sociological ideas from our assigned reading (related to socialization and in-group/out-group relations) to explain these candidates’ speeches.
3. Look over and respond to each others’ posts with the goal of strengthening each others’ understanding of socialization and in-group/out-group dynamics.

As usual, you should also review your classmates posts and respond to at least two of these so that we can all develop a stronger understanding of in-group/out-group dynamics and their role in populist politics.
