Morals, Mimetic Desire and the Enlightenments Shadows

Please view the videos by Anis Mojgani, both his Shake the Dust and Come Closer. We’ve used various forms of ethical and social theory to understand our modern period; we have also read and heard  about mimetic theory. The argument that Charles Taylor makes is that we are moving away from a Western centric religious paradigm, toward a more secular worldview. One can say we are moving from a value rational perspective to a more utilitarian perspective. However, Mojgani seems to be up to something quite unique, using this week’s readings, address what vision he is proposing, what kind of moral and social worldview is Mojgani putting forth?
