Question Scenario:You are an LPN working in a Vancouver DTES (site of drug use, homelessness, poverty, mental illness people) Community clinic. One of your client is a 17 year old indigenous girl. She just found out that she is pregnant and 11/2 month along according to her. She ran a pregnancy test at home and realized it 2 days ago. However, recently she was diagnosed with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease and Gonorrhea also.She is single now , though she’s had multiple sexual partners in the past. Since she was a toddler, she had been sexually abused by her father’s friends, until the day she moved out which was 3 years ago.During discussions, she informs you that she is not willing to tell any of her sexual partners about, either her pregnancy or the Gonorrhea. She is totally against abortion and want’s to have the baby despite the fact that she’s living on her own, is supporting herself working in a convenience store as a cashier and barely making her own ends meet. Her parents are living on the Reserve in Chilliwack and are totally opposed to the idea of their daughter having a baby in her current condition .
