Medical Liaison Officer

For this assignment, you examine the trend of hiring more physicians as a Medical Liaison Officer during the 1970s and 1980s. Create a 2 page report to the Board of Directors that discusses the degree to which you feel this kind of system would work in your region today. Your region will be Charleston, West Virginia

1. Visit the following Web sites to gather information:
   • HealthyPeople.gov.
   • National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
2. From these sites, gather information about medical professionals in your region. About how many physicians work at hospitals? Are a large percentage of physicians clustered at specific hospitals? What is known about how much hospital-based physicians make?
3. Read the Frenzen article (1991, September), The Increasing Supply of Physicians in U.S. Urban and Rural Areas, 1975 to 1988. American Journal of Public Health, volume 81, issue 9, pages 1141–1147.
