For this week’s discussion, you must first read the brief article linked above, as well as the text box on p.143 in your textbook (12th Edition – it’s on p.140 in 11th Edition) regarding “The McDonaldization of Society”. This phrase derives from a very important sociological book written by George Ritzer. Make sure you understand the 5 central themes: efficiency, calculability, predictability, increased control, and the replacement of human by non-human technology.
