Very true that retention is a problem in nursing as well. Nurses are leaders and will continue to pave the way for future nurses because the reality is they cannot do it all themselves, even with the awesome nurses we have practicing today. Leading by example and making sacrifices for co-workers and staffthey supervise is of utmost importance. Servant leaders do this by putting staff and patients before their own needs and even making sacrifices when others need is more pressing than their own (Thomas 2018).
