1000 word book review on 1984

I will give a very large tip if I receive a A or B on this!!!!!

Once you have read the book, please follow these instructions exactly:

-Typed and double-spaced.

-Margins should be 1 1/4″ to 1 1/2″.

-The format of the review will be exactly as follows. Label

each section with the appropriate Roman numeral and then

provide the required information.

  1. Bibliographic information on the book (5%). Please use this bibliographic format: Title. Author’s name. (Place of Publication: Publisher, copyright date. Number of pages.) Please type this information in linear form as typed above. Also, see page 3 of this packet for further examples.
  1. Identification of the author’s thesis (10%). What was the main point of the book? What was the author’s argument? This section can be accomplished in one paragraph.

III. Evidence to support the thesis (45%). Present some of the more striking evidence the author put forth to prove the thesis. This will be the major portion of your review (2 to 3 pages).

Provide a page number for each piece of evidence you include (regardless if it is a quote or paraphrased evidence).

This is important as these page numbers represent informal footnotes. The references need to be from passages throughout the book. If you do not follow these instructions you will lose substantial credit on the evidence section grade.

Please keep direct quotations to a minimum.

Remember: a critical review is not a mere summary of the book (that would be a book report.) You need to analyze the evidence and thesis. Avoid lengthy quotations. Use quotes sparingly–I want your words.

Collaboration Scenarios – Mental Health Counselor Scatterdesk

Case Description Document

A community mental health center includes a licensed clinical social worker, a psychologist who provides testing and other assessments, a child therapist and a staff of five counselors. The center also has a relationship with a psychiatrist at a nearby Free Clinic. A 31-year-old single mother of three children (ages 9, 5 and 3), has been seeing her counselor for four months and has become increasingly anxious over the past weeks.

In the last few sessions she has disclosed that she feels frightened all of the time, is unable to sleep through the night, and worries that “something horrible is going to happen.” She admits to having a “couple of drinks” during the evening several times a week. She’s met with the social worker on two occasions to help her secure food stamps and get her children appointments at the local dental clinic.

The children are now meeting for play therapy sessions with the child therapist during the time the mother is seeing her own counselor. She had met with the psychologist for an initial visit, but has not returned to complete any of the testing. At the end of the last appointment, the client disclosed that was very worried that she’s a horrible mother and is afraid that her children will be taken away and placed in foster care.

Memo From Child Therapist

I wanted you to know that I’ve been working with this client’s children for three sessions and the mother has granted permission for you to see the notes of the last session. Let me know if you want to talk about it.

Notes From Child Therapist’s Session

Jane, age 9, Johnny, age 5, and Emma, age 3, met with me for their third counseling session. All children were dressed in clean clothing but Johnny was missing his socks and Emma’s shoes were falling apart. We spent the first half of the session working in the sand tray; the children then wanted to draw pictures. Themes that emerged for Jane centered on control and order; she appears to feel overly responsible for her siblings and very protective of her mother.

Johnny’s play included themes of “secrets” and “hiding” – he is wary in the room and reluctant to engage in spontaneous play. Emma is very shy and has not spoken more than a few words in each of the sessions. During this session she was very tearful, which I have not previously observed. I believe it would be useful to consult with Jane’s and Johnny’s teachers.

Note from another counselor at the clinic

Hi – I wanted to let you know that your client showed up during the week thinking she had an appointment with you. I spoke with her for about 20 minutes – she was very anxious about some things a neighbor had said to her – but calmed down during our meeting. She appeared to have been drinking. I told her that I’d let you know she had been here.

Note from Psychologist

The client has still not returned to complete the assessment battery. I’d like to rule out Bipolar Disorder and further evaluate what I believe to be either paranoid or delusional thinking. There may be some Personality Disorder features. Do you want me to write up a report now based on my meeting with her or should I wait until the full battery is complete?

Voicemail From Social Worker

Jane Greunke
This is Jane, the social worker. Your client called to ask if I could get her 3-year old girl enrolled in a day care program. She sounded very disoriented during the call. I’m considering asking Child Protective Services to evaluate the home. What do you think?

  • Describe the role and function each professional would serve in terms of assessing or responding to any of the legal or ethical issues that may arise when working with this client or student.
  • Imagine that you are the counselor working with this student or client, and you will be serving as the lead person to coordinate efforts among the team of professionals at this setting.
    • What are some ways in which you might initiate collaboration efforts to resolve the legal and ethical issues?
    • What methods will you use to communicate?
    • How will you know if these strategies are effective?

    • For the student in the school counselor scenario: Compose a letter that you would send, with the student’s and his or her parents’ permission, to the school psychologist who will be seeing the student for an evaluation. In the letter, describe the reason for your referral, the relevant information you would like the psychologist to have about the student, and the information you would like to receive after the evaluation is completed. (You may need to make up some of the details about the student and your work with him.)

Identify type of test battery, diagnostic impression, interview, questions, recomendations for psychological evaluation

Referral Question:

Samantha, a 15-year-old female adolescent, was referred by her parents for a psychological evaluation. Their main concerns regarding Samantha include the fact that she has been having difficulty focusing and maintaining her attention at home and at school (as reported by teachers), that she is failing her academic course-load, is having difficulty sleeping, is withdrawing from family and friends, appears sad and hopeless more days than not, and does not want to eat. They indicate that she has struggled with attention issues for as long as they can remember and that the other symptoms are more recent, starting around 6 months ago when she transitioned to a new school. They would like clarity on her diagnoses and recommendations for the home and academic settings.

  • Identify questions/main areas that you would want answered by the parents and child in the interview process. Would you utilize a structured/unstructuredinterview?
  • Identify the test battery that you would complete with this child in an evaluation:
  • What types of behaviors might you expect to see during testing with Samantha?
  • Provide a preliminary diagnostic impression (will not be graded on right/wrong) with support.
  • Identify four recommendations you would make to improve her home/social/emotional functioning and another three recommendations to help improve her functioning in the academic setting.
  • Intelligence test
  • Achievement test
  • Rating scales – who would complete the rating scales?
  • Projective test
  • Personality test

Please support your choice of test with evidence/reasoning for its use in this case.

Please identify any scales you would expect to be elevated on the rating scales or specific trends you would expect to become apparent on her testing results (e.g., high scores on the hyperactive scale, slow processing speed, anxious themes on a sentence completion test).

APA FORMAT 4 or more pages in-test citations

DQ2 (Brooke Perrizo)

Please respond to the following post with a paragraph. Thank You !!

Advocacy is a basic foundation to nursing. The nurse’s role in patient advocacy involves being the voice for the patient; standing up for the patient and voicing concerns, doing what is right and in the patient’s best interest, communicating properly with the patient and Interdisciplinary team, and many others. Communicating properly can also include charting. Nurses advocate for their patients by charting what really happened, no false documentation, nothing unethical like making up vital signs because they were too lazy to take them.

Collaboration is another way that nurses advocate for patients (Helbig, 2018). In order to ensure patient-centered care, collaboration between other members of the healthcare team is vital. The phrase “it takes a tribe” has never rang more true when it comes to healthcare. We work as a team to ensure our patients are getting the best care possible.

I think we’ve all had our fair share of nursing advocate stories. One recent situation while working in the post-acute rehab unit involved an older gentleman who was supposed to be discharged home the following day. He had been there after having back surgery and would’ve been going home with wife after weeks of therapy. While I was doing his assessment that evening, he voiced some concern about going home and that he felt it was a little too early. I could see the concern in his eyes. He was afraid that his wife wouldn’t be able to help him on her own and didn’t feel comfortable going home quite yet. The patient also said that he didn’t feel comfortable telling the doctor this when his discharge was discussed. Therefore, I called the doctor and told him what was going on and the patient’s concerns. The doctor agreed to keep the patient for a little longer and that we would set up for an aide to come in to the home to help with certain things. The patient was so happy when I told him that he just kept saying, “Thank you so much, you really care about us patients.” It made me realize that not all patients think that nurses advocate for them, so I was happy to sort of change his mind about this situation.

Writing writing,writing

This is a Research Paper on “The snow of kilimanjaro”

You must follow the assignment exactly.

Please note that this is not a thesis controlled essay; it is an exploration of sources.

You will use a total of four sources, including the primary source

. Find three commentaries (articles, interviews, overviews, critical essays, etc.) about the story or play and take notes or highlight the parts that help in your understanding. You should use at least two substantial quotations from each commentary in your paper. I encourage you to use more than three commentaries (secondary sources). Keep in mind that your research should focus on the literature itself, not on the author, though you may find articles in which the author (writer of the primary source) discusses the story, novel, or play, or you may find that the author’s own life is relevant to the story in a very specific way. Many biographies include discussions of specific pieces of literature by the author. The primary source (the story, novel, or play) does not count as one of the three commentaries (secondary sources). This means that you will have at least four sources in your works cited list. Again, I encourage you to use additional sources, especially if you don’t find answers to your questions by using only three.

Don’t use:

  • No internet (or print) sources that are “notes” or “summaries” of the primary source (CliffsNotes, Endnotes, Classicnotes, Booknotes, Sparknotes, Novelguide.com, etc) (Anything with lots of advertisements should be avoided.) If you are unsure about a source, let me know.
  • No student papers or free essays from websites like 1234helpme.com, freeessays.tv, gradesaver.com, sunflower.singnet.com, cbronte.com, bookrags, planetpapers.com, antiessays.com, directessays.com, academon.com, echeat.com, study.com–I’m truly amazed at how many websites like this exist! (These papers are often already plagiarized, or they are written by high school students with no real evidence for their views.)
  • No encyclopedias, especially Wikipedia, which is a good general reference but not always reliable, especially not as literary criticism
  • No dictionaries–definitions of words aren’t commentaries (though it’s good to look up words, of course)
  • No unsigned internet articles
  • No interviews with friends about the story or play (though it’s good to discuss the primary source with other people)_
  • USE
  • Books (biographies of
the author, compilations of critical essays, critical studies of the story,
    novel or play)

    _
    HCCS databases (When you
click on “Libraries” on the homepage, you will see a link for databases A to Z.
Gale literature resources are now under “A” for Artemis. (This is a recent
change.) Just login with your normal HCCS student login. You will be prompted
to do this once you choose the database that you want.

    _
    Movies or documentaries
that relate to the the primary source (You must discuss these in the paper, not
just mention them, to count them as sources. Normally, this would include a
comparison between the written work and the movie or documentary. Use only one
    video source. )

    _
    Reliable websites (with
    authors listed)

    _
    Websites with .org,
.gov., .edu (unless the source is a student paper)

    ACCESSING
    DATABASES FROM HOME

    As indicated above,
as of Spring 2017, you may use your normal student login to access library
databases. Just go to to “Libraries” at the top of the HCCS home page and then
choose the database that you want. I suggest that you start with Artemis, which
includes all of the Gale Literature databases.

    Writing the Paper

    3.
In your paper, begin with a brief introduction in which you tell why you chose
this story or play, what questions you had after reading, how your found your
sources, which sources were most useful. This introduction is required. You
should use “I” in the introduction since you are discussing your
    personal response.

    4. Include a very brief discussion of the primary source itself, including
quotations that you think are important.
This part of the paper shouldn’t
be more than a paragraph or two. (I emphasize “brief” because in the
past, some students have discussed the story, novel, or play for half the paper
and responded very briefly to the commentaries.) This part of the paper should be similar
    to a short reading response.

    5. Then discuss each commentary (source) in a full paragraph for each source,
letting the reader know what the critics have said about your story, novel, or
play. Include at least two substantial quotations from the source and
your responses to what the critics say. A substantial quotation is more than
one sentence. You will need to give the name and author of each commentary, but
don’t use these as headings. I prefer that you organize your essay by
discussing the sources one by one in separate paragraphs. You may, of course,
make connections among the sources to make the essay flow nicely. I’m
interested in what you find out about the literature through research. Please
follow punctuation rules for quotations. Quotation marks don’t substitute for
other marks of punctuation (commas, colons, semicolons, periods). Here is a
    website that should be useful:
    Punctuating
    Quotations in Essays

    6. Do not put the
    author’s name in parentheses
after a quotation. You should introduce your
source at the beginning of the paragraph by including the author’s name and the
title of the source in your topic sentence for the paragraph. You may, of
course, mention the author’s name again in a sentence if you wish, but don’t
put the author’s name in parentheses. Use sentences like, “Baker goes on
    to say that. . . .” or “he also says that. . . .”

    7. At the end of the paper, summarize what you have learned by doing the
research, perhaps letting your reader know which commentaries answered the
questions you had, which gave you additional insight, which were difficult to
understand, etc. Again, you should use “I.”

    8. Include a works cited list at the end of the paper, listing all
sources alphabetically, using MLA documentation format. Be sure
to list your primary source (the story, play, or novel you are writing about).
    You
must follow MLA format exactly. If you need help, let me know. You may wish to
pick up a handout at the library or consult the following website: MLA Format. The Purdue
    On-line Writing Lab
(OWL) is also very useful. I provided a sample works
cited list at the end of this file. The list is not called “references” or

Interview Scenario (BSHS/385)

Human service professionals are challenged to assist clients in establishing goals related to outcomes. Assessing these goals early in the therapeutic process can provide the structure and direction needed to move forward in the intervention.

You have been assigned as a case worker for a new client. The client meets with you for the first time to discuss his/her concern. The client, a 52-year-old man, has just moved into the state and gained custody of his two medically-fragile children, ages 4 and 2. He is the primary caregiver for the 2 children, works full time and is attending school. The client has enrolled the children in school.

At this visit, the client requested support to receive early intervention services for the children, who are displaying developmental delays in the areas of communication, language development, and fine motor skills. The client has obtained information about a developmental pediatrician; however, he indicates the children may require more support.

Respond to the following questions in 550-750 words:

  1. What is the purpose of the client’s visit?
  2. What are the primary and secondary issues and/or concerns of the client?
  3. Are there any elements missing from the summary you will need to know for a complete assessment?
  4. In this interview scenario, how can you assist your client in establishing a goal(s) related to the outcomes?
    • What steps are needed to assist clients in establishing goals?
    • What value does collaboration have during your interview?
    • How do you identify the most effective objective(s)?
    • What are some objectives that would support the identified goal?
