Assignment Overview

In this assignment, you will develop a plan of care for a patient with an acute musculoskeletal injury.

Deliverables

An 8- to 11-slide presentation

Step 1 Review nursing implications.

Refer to textbook readings and additional current medication and nursing resources regarding the treatment of osteoporosis.

Consider the pathophysiology of osteoporosis, including those medications often indicated.

Step 2 Read the patient scenario.

An 86-year-old female has been diagnosed with osteoporosis after a fall, which resulted in a fractured left hip. The hip has been repaired and the patient is being discharged to home this afternoon. Her daughter cares for her and has verbalized questions about how to increase her calcium.

Step 3 Develop a plan of care.

Create an 8- to 11-slide presentation with the following format:

• A title slide
• A minimum of two slides describing the pathophysiology of osteoporosis and addressing the types of fractures that may occur. Include the most common locations of those fractures. Explain it rare to see osteoporosis in children.
• A minimum of two slides addressing the pharmacologic treatment of osteoporosis
• A minimum of one slide with a table including dietary sources of calcium and the amount of calcium in each source
• A minimum of one slide including at least safety considerations for this patient
• A reference slide listing any resources used to prepare your presentation

Step 4 Add presenter’s notes.

Include talking points and details in the notes area for each slide.These notes should document what you would say to an audience about each slide if you were to present in person.

You are working in a rehab center for teenagers who tell you that drugs get them through the day because school is boring, their families are dysfunctional, and that they use them because their friends pressure them. Some tell you that their parents, aunts, and uncles gave them their first exposure to marijuana, cocaine, and meth. Others say they just like how some drugs calm them down and others speed them up.

  • With regard to your selected reasons, answer the following questions:
    • Once started, why do people continue to use mood altering substances? Explain in detail.
  • What are recreational drugs? Explain.
  • Since teens are most at risk for recreational drug use, what can be done to divert them away from recreational drug use? Explain.
    • What does current research suggest with regard to persuading teens to not partake in drug use?
  • Are the reasons for teen drug use and abuse different than those of adults? Explain.
• Be sure to reference all sources using APA style.

1.Habits of Strong Ethical Leader. Review the habits of strong ethical leaders in Chapter Five. Evaluate yourself on each of those habits, then identify and describe specific areas where you need to change to be a more ethical leader.

2.Examining Warren Buffett as an Effective Leader. Read the Chapter Five debate issue on page 138. Clearly state whether you think

1) Warren Buffett is correct in trusting his managers based on their character, or
2) Buffett needs to focus more on ethical codes and compliance.

Explain your answer.

3.Moral Philosophies. “Individuals use different moral philosophies depending on whether they are making a personal decision or a work-related decision” (Ferrell, Fraedrich & Ferrell, 2013, p. 166). Review the moral philosophies described in Chapter Six, and answer the following:

1) Which moral philosophy best describes your personal decision making? Explain using an example from your own experience.
2) Which moral philosophy best describes your work-related decision making? Explain using an example from your own experience.

4.White Collar Crime. After reviewing the material on white collar crime (pp. 169-172), read the Chapter Six debate issue on page 171. Clearly state whether you think

1) White collar criminals have underlying psychological disorders that encourage misconduct, or
2) White collar crime is the result of weak organizational cultures and codes.

Explain your answer. Note: the question is not suggesting that an underlying psychological disorder is a legal defense for white collar crime.

The second question (Warren Buffett) also looks at whether ethical behaviors come from inside the individual or whether ethical behavior are influenced by organizational codes, culture and compliance.

c) Suppose that you own 900 put option contracts, where each contract represents 100 shares.
What is your delta position? How many shares do you need to buy or sell to achieve delta
neutrality? For this question, you will first need to calculate the delta of a put option, which is
