Interview of a teacher that services ELL students

We do not have a teacher in my area that can answer these questions. My assignment includes the following:

Interview one content area classroom teacher that services ELLs in a Title 1 setting about how assessment is used for placement. You should also inquire also about how placement is determined for both special education and gifted ELLs. Your questions might include, but not limited to, the following:

  1. What are the indicators of exceptionality a classroom teacher should look for when a student also has a language barrier?
  2. How do informal and formal assessment results factor into placement?
  3. What role do parents and teachers have in placement?
  4. What are some primary factors that are exhibited in underachievement that may not necessarily signal special education needs?
  5. How are changes among individual ELL proficiency levels over the course of the school year accounted for?
  6. How are diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments integrated for ELLs in mainstream classrooms?
  7. What are the benefits of the SIOP protocol for native English speakers as well as those for whom English is an additional language?

Consolidate your findings in a 15-20 slide PowerPoint presentation to inform your colleagues about the assessment and placement process.

Describe the content and use of the Arizona English Language Learner Assessment (AZELLA) in guiding ELL instruction. How do AZELLA score reports facilitate achievement among ELLs? Compare the use of the AZELLA to the assessment and placement process in your state. If your state is Arizona, you may elaborate on this process. How does the assessment and placement process in your state facilitate achievement among ELLs?

Support your presentation with at least three scholarly resources.

Include presenter’s notes, a title slide, and a reference slide.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using the documentation guidelines found in the APA Style.

A critical part of your development

A critical part of your development as a counseling professional involves working for positive social change. In fact, your ultimate goal of becoming a clinical mental health counselor means working with clients to help them understand and work through their issues and strengthen their overall well-being. In addition to your profession and its impact in effecting social change, you are also in a position to learn about emerging issues your clients may be facing that should be addressed.

Advocating for social change often means getting the word out. Over the years, the methods for making the public aware have grown from flyers, brochures, and poster sessions at conferences to advocating online, including blogs, wikis, and social media. But the central goal of these communications remains focused on presenting the issue and the goal as clearly and succinctly as possible.

For this Discussion, you will develop skills that will help you become an agent for social change. You will create an informational product advocating change with a current issue facing a population that interests you.

To Prepare:

  • Review the Optional Resources and consider the possible technology tools to use for the creation of your Counselor’s Role as Advocate for Social Change informational product (brochure, flyer, PowerPoint, wiki, blog, etc.).
  • Select a digital tool to create your Social Change informational product. It may be in the form of a flyer, brochure, wiki, blog post, webpage, or other format of your choosing.
  • Review the Learning Resources and select a current event no older than 12 months concerning a setting/population you are interested in.
  • Include the following in your post:
    • Title and Introduction
    • An attachment or link to the informational product you created
    • An evaluation of the current event/problem area you selected that includes the following:
      • A description of the setting/population you would like to work with (Mental Health, Addiction, Campus, etc.)
      • A description of the problem, issue, or event that led to your interest
      • An explanation of why you chose the issue you selected and why change is needed. Make sure to cite at least three scholarly resources (these may include your course text and scholarly, peer-reviewed sources from the Walden journal databases).
      • A list of action steps one might take to address the problem
    • Reference list: at least three resources

Critically reflect on the Ingenuity in Practice (Kirkham, Mosey & Binks, 2009) creative problem-solving process.

  • Coursework 3: Individual Essay (3,500 words; 50%
  • )I. Critically reflect on the Ingenuity in Practice (Kirkham, Mosey & Binks, 2009) creative problem-solving process. Use academic references and practical examples to a) evaluate the Ingenuity process of entrepreneurial creativity and b) identify key factors influencing the effectiveness of its use for creative problem-solving in groups
  • This coursework should include two main contributions
  • The first should demonstrate an understanding of the key ways in which entrepreneurial creativity and the creative problem solving process are interpreted by Ingenuity in Practice, including descriptions of: how it defines the concept of creativity; how it interprets who and/or what is able to engage in creativity; how and why it configures the process of creative problem solving in the way it does; and how it interprets the roles of individuals and the social interactions between group members in the creative process.
  • The second contribution should be a critical reflection on Ingenuity in Practice as a process of creative problem solving, and the key factors that influence the effectiveness of its use within groups. This analysis should be informed through the theoretical, empirical, and practical content included within the module. Higher grades will be awarded to work that integrates both theoretical and practical examples of creativity and entrepreneurship into the evaluation. You should therefore attempt to demonstrate your understanding of the links between the Ingenuity process and various aspects of the literature, including (but not limited to): creativity theory, creative problem-solving practices, group creativity, entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurial behaviour. Your evaluation therefore needs to be carefully argued, making sure that your claims are supported by appropriate theory, critical analysis, empirical evidence, and practical examples.
  • Each contribution will be equally weighted and should therefore be approximately 1,750 words in length. The coursework will marked in line with the MSc marking guides (outlined on page 11) and the following criteria will be used in the assessment of your work:Comprehension – Your knowledge and understanding of the theoretical, empirical and practical content of the module, how accurately you describe these materials and how

page8image265670576

appropriately they are applied to your critical reflection on the Ingenuity process and factors influencing group-based creative problem solving. Your understanding of the debates within creativity and entrepreneurship theory and your ability to synthesise the literature from creativity and entrepreneurship research. Mistakes in comprehension may constitute major errors, problems with synthesis may constitute a minor error.

Argumentation – Your ability to use argument to support your critical reflection on the Ingenuity process. This includes: drawing upon appropriate supporting evidence; using critical analysis to highlight problems and tensions within theory that lead to your points; comparing and contrasting alternative theories of creativity and creative problem solving to those underpinning Ingenuity; how you combine insights to support your overall evaluation; and appropriateness of your conclusions. Absence of any form of argument would be a major error, problems with the argument presented may constitute a minor error.

Relevance to practice – Your ability to demonstrate understanding of the relationship between theories and practical examples of creative problem solving. This can include, for example, notable cases of entrepreneurial creativity or illustrations from your own use of the Ingenuity process. Absence of discussion of practice would be a major error, inappropriate application of theory to practice (and vice versa) may be a minor error.

Originality – Your ability to present original evaluative insights or identify new tensions, issues, or problems within existing creativity and entrepreneurship theory and/or to suggest new topics for research to explore. Lack of originality would not be a major or minor error. Essays with original insights will be more likely to be awarded the highest grades (80%+) if all other criteria are satisfied.

In order to complete this work, you will need to find and use relevant academic journal articles and will therefore need to search the journal databases to support your analysis. Most of the journal titles within the business databases will have relevant articles. The following keywords will help you find these: creativity (individual and group), entrepreneurship, discovery, and opportunity. The module reading list offers an extensive list of relevant articles but it is important not to limit yourself to these. The following journal titles are particularly relevant for completing this essay:

o o o o o o o

Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice. Journal of Business Venturing.

Academy of Management Review Journal of Management Studies

Small Business Economics

International Small Business Journal o Creativity Research Journal

o Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts o Creativity and Innovation Management

Simple response assignment

I’ve underlined the questions that will need a response. Each case will need a response below, and the underlined questions at the bottom will need to be answered.

Organizations that are exempt from income tax under section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as organizations described in section 501(c)(3) may not participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements), any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office. (www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/rr-07-41.pdf)

Each of the following hypothetical cases is based on examples from IRS Revenue Ruling 2007–41, released June 18, 2007. In each case, do you think the organization described violated the law? You can check your answer against the IRS’s opinion by looking at Revenue Ruling 2007–41 on the IRS website (www.irs.gov/pub/irs-tege/rr2007-41.pdf).

  • Organization B (as denoted on IRS website), a 501(c)(3) that promotes community involvement, sets up a booth at the state fair where citizens can register to vote. The signs and banners in and around the booth give only the name of the organization, the date of the next upcoming statewide election, and notice of the opportunity to register. No reference to any candidate or political party is made by the volunteers staffing the booth or in the materials available at the booth, other than the official voter registration forms that allow registrants to select a party affiliation.
  • Organization C is a 501(c)(3) that educates the public on environmental issues. Candidate G is running for the state legislature and an important element of her platform is challenging the environmental policies of the incumbent. Shortly before the election, Organization C sets up a telephone bank to call registered voters in the district in which Candidate G is seeking election. In the phone conversations, Organization C’s callers tell the voter about the importance of environmental issues and ask questions about the voter’s views on these issues. If the voter appears to agree with the incumbent’s position, Organization C’s representative thanks the voter and ends the call. If the voter appears to agree with Candidate G’s position, then the caller reminds the voter about the upcoming election, stresses the importance of voting in the election, and offers to provide transportation to the polls.
  • Mr. D is the board chair of Organization M, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that educates the public on conservation issues. During a regular meeting of the organization shortly before the election, Mr. D spoke on a number of issues, including the importance of voting in the upcoming election, and concluded by saying, “It is important that you all do your duty in the election and vote for Candidate W.”
  • Ms. E is president of Society N, a historical society that is a 501(c)(3). In the month prior to the election, President E invites the three congressional candidates for the district in which Society N is located to address the members, one each at a regular meeting held on 3 consecutive weeks. Each candidate is given an equal opportunity to address and field questions on a wide variety of topics from the members. Society N’s publicity announcing the dates for each of the candidate’s speeches and President E’s introduction of each candidate include no comments on their qualifications or any indication of a preference for any candidate.
  • Minister F is the minister of Church Q, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The Sunday before the November election, Minister F invites Senate Candidate X to preach to her congregation during worship services. During his remarks, Candidate X states, “I am asking not only for your votes but for your enthusiasm and dedication, for your willingness to go the extra mile to get a very large turnout on Tuesday.” Minister F invites no other candidate to address her congregation during the senatorial campaign.
  • List two of the alternative terms many nonprofit organizations use instead of the word lobbying and discuss why they make those substitutions.
  • Do state or national associations increase the role of nonrprofits in advocacy? Why or why not?
  • Describe the National Council of Nonprofit Associations (NCNA) and the role it plays. What benefit can it provide to the nonprofit sector?
