Launching a New Project

The Journal exercise provides you with the opportunity to apply what you learned from the Reading and assignments. In this Journal, you will reflect on the challenges encountered by project managers when launching a new project. Read the scenario and then address the Journal question.

Respond in a Journal posting. You will not have to respond to other students, but your response must be original. Only your first posting will be graded.

Scenario: Your global management consulting firm has suffered in the last year from a reputation as being slightly outdated and conservative according to a marketing research firm. You want to change this image to bring in more clients and motivate employees to see the firm as “cutting edge” or up-to-date. The Board of Directors initially agreed with the need to update the image and processes of the firm. As the first part of your updating strategy you have decided that you need to convince the Board of Directors that robots might have a place in the headquarters offices to address visitor needs in the executive lobby.

Requirements

Your Journal should consist of a minimum of 300 words, and no more than 350 words. The Journal must be concise, well-written, and consistent with the requirements. You are to compose a memo that briefs Max on the capacity of e-commerce networks and e-business models to reduce administrative expenses.

The Dapper-Dons Partnership was formed ten years ago as a general partnership to custom tailor men’s clothing. Dapper-Dons is located at 123 Flamingo Drive in City, ST, 54321. Bob Dapper manages the business and has a 40% capital and profits interest. His address is 709 Brumby Way, City, ST, 54321. Jeremy Dons owns the remaining 60% interest but is not active in the business. His address is 807 Ninth Avenue, City, ST, 54321. The partner- ship values its inventory using the cost method and did not change the method used during the current year. The partnership uses the accrual method of accounting. Because of its simplicity, the partnership is not subject to the partnership audit procedures. The partner- ship has no foreign partners, no foreign transactions, no interests in foreign trusts, and no foreign financial accounts. This partnership is neither a tax shelter nor a publicly traded partnership. No changes in ownership of partnership interests occurred during the current year. The partnership made cash distributions of $155,050 and $232,576 to Dapper and Dons, respectively, on December 30 of the current year. It made no other property distribu- tions. Financial statements for the current year are presented in Tables C:9-1 and C:9-2. Assume that Dapper-Dons’ business qualifies as a U.S. production activity and that its qualified production activities income is $600,000. Dapper-Dons, being an eligible small pass-through partnership, uses the small business simplified overall method for report- ing these activities (see discussion for Line 13d of Schedules K and K-1 in the Form 1065 instructions).

For this minimum 300 word post, you will analyze the major themes of Health and Well-Being, Family and Parenting, Education, Culture and Gender as factors influencing the domain of physical development, specifically safety.

• Think about and comment on how child and adolescent safety regulations have changed over the past few decades.
• Provide examples of new safety guidelines that did not exist either when you were growing up, or when your parents were growing up.
• Then, search the internet for credible sources and find other scholarly articles from the Ashford University Library website.
• Choose and report on three statistics specifically related to child and adolescent safety from this current decade (2010-present) within each of the three stages of infancy/toddlerhood, childhood, and adolescence. In other words, you will have one unique statistic for each of the three stages.
