The foundation is putting together a proposal for a Ronald Reagan Memorial on the National Mall in Washington D.C. They have assigned you to write a report highlighting the historic accomplishments of Reagan during his years as the U.S. President (1980–1989) and the legacy he left behind with the fall of the Soviet Union. You must include his economic, social, and political major achievements, both in the domestic and foreign arenas.

Public attitudes toward police misconduct or police legitimacy have been linked to violent crime. For that, and other reasons, it is important for police departments to set and maintain high standards of conduct for professional pride, and because it can be argued that police ethics impact public safety in a more general sense. For this assignment, prepare a three-page paper detailing the moral rules you would follow and the ethical judgment you would employ regarding whether you would arrest or not in this situation.

In your paper:

• Explore the ethical system you would apply in carrying out your duties as a law enforcement officer.
• Articulate the moral rules you would follow in considering what your response might be if the driver were a non-political figure.
• Analyze whether your ethical and moral behavior would be the same or different if the driver were a fellow police officer.

1. Open the data file Brochure. Save the document as a template named Auction Brochure. (Hint: In Save As Dialog box, click the save as type arrow, and then click Word Template.)

2. Select all the text in the document without selecting the first empty paragraph, and then covert the selected text into a table with three columns. (Hint: Use the convert Text to Table command on the Table button menu. Adjust the number of columns, make sure the Paragraphs option button is selected in the Separate text section.)

3. Change the orientation of the document to Landscape.

4. Change the zoom level to Page Width.

5. Add a new row to the top of the table with the labels Package, Value, and Description.

6. Change the theme to Black Tie, and then apply the medium List 2 table style to the table. Format the header row  and first column with special formatting and used banded rows.

7. Adjust the column widths so that the first column is two inches wide the second column is Autofit, and the third column is 6.25 inches wide.

8. Center all the text in the Value column using the Align Center Command. Center all the text in the Package column using the Align Left command.

9. In the empty paragraph at the top of the document, insert Word Art using the Gradient Fill-Black, Outline- White, Outer Shadow style, and then type AUCTION! as the WordArt text.

10. Position the WordArt as a floating graphic above the table and approximately aligned with the left edge of the table.

11.Use the keyword auction search for clip art, and insert a piece of black and white clip art.

12. Crop off part of the clip art.

13. Change the wrap properties to the clip art to Tight. Position it in the upper-right corner of the document, reducing the size as needed to fit above the table.

14. Save the WordArt as a Quick Part Brochure template. Name the Quick Part Auction Heading and save it with the option to be inserted in its own paragraph.

15.Save the document, and then close it.

Assignment 1: Essay

Choose one (1) of the topics below and develop a three to four (3-4) paragraph essay (of at least 250-500 words) which adequately address the topic you have chosen.

Topic Choices:

• There have been many theories regarding how the pyramids at Giza were constructed. Most experts agree that they were constructed as burial monuments for pharaohs, but “how” these ancient people constructed monuments of such great size without modern machinery is a mystery which is still being debated. 
• No one can say for certain what happened to the Mayan people, but theories abound and include varied possible alternatives to explain the abrupt and mysterious disappearance of the Mayan civilization.
• Tutankhamen died young, at around 18 years of age. However, his cause of death has not been confirmed. Did he die of an injury, of illness, or was he murdered?
• Considered the “Mummy’s Curse,” a series of unexplainable, unfortunate, or tragic events that happened to the people who were present at the opening of Tutankhamen’s tomb. 
• There has always been debate about the identity of the poet Homer, the presumed author of The Illiad and The Odyssey. Was he a real person or not?
• The monumental size and complexity of the Tomb of Shihuangdi is astounding. It is believed that the workers were forced to remain inside the tomb when it was walled shut so they would not reveal the secrets of its construction. What was the emperor’s purpose for such an elaborate burial place?
• Other topic choice recommended and approved by the professor and supported by the grading rubric

Write a 3-4 paragraph paper in which you:

1. Clearly state the “mystery” and provide a brief summary of at least two (2) reasonable and scholarly theories which could explain the mystery. Because some theories may sound far-fetched, include the source or promoter of each theory – such as a scientist, a historian, a theologian, etc.
2. Identify one (1) of the theories as the most plausible and provide at least two (2) convincing reasons why the theory you have chosen is the best one to explain the mystery.
3. Use at least two (2) sources besides the textbook. Note: Wikipedia and other similar Websites do not qualify as academic resources. You are highly encouraged to use the Resource Center tab at the top of your Blackboard page.
