My name is Jill Tucker and I am from a small town in Indiana. I am currently in the military and working full-time as an aviation avionics mechanic for the National Guard on rotary wind aircraft, helicopters. I am married and have 3 boys; two 5-year-olds and one 2-year-old. I recently returned home from a deployment and am working on getting back into the swing of things.

I have an Associate’s degree in psychology from the University of Phoenix and I have decided that I wanted to continue my education with Ashford University. I plan to use BUS 308 as a way to continue working towards my Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. The reason behind my decision to continue my education is that I will be looking at retiring from the military in about a few years and I want to switch my line of work. A Bachelor’s degree will make me more marketable when the time comes. I’ve spent the last 18 years working in aviation and would like to do something else for my civilian career. I am still unsure what that might be, but I plan to start to look as soon as my degree is finished.

One of the 5 learning outcomes that I have learned from general educations classes is better communications skills. I am better able to form more cohesive memorandums and emails to get my questions and answers across. I have been able to also be more informed in issues through the research that I have conducted in management classes MGT 435 (Organizational Change) and MTG 415 (Group Behavior in Organizations). That class has helped me see my company in a different light and help my command with how to better handle some situations.

The second skill is the ethics and moral reasoning, gained with the several psychology courses that I have taken. This has enabled me to understand the ethics that are involved with all different scenarios and disciplines. These skills have helped me to improve my management capabilities and lead my subordinates in the right way.

Lastly, the critical thinking skills that I have learned throughout several classes; Psychology, Management, Accounting to name a few. It is important to be able read materials for every class, and in careers, and think critically about what I have read and use that information to write papers and apply them to a job. I have learned to read the information from different sources and talk about that material in a way that allows others to understand without having to read it for themselves.

Alan lives in a beachfront home, and one morning he discovers an adult woman who has washed up on shore and is unconscious. Alan takes her into his home and administers aid to her. She awakens after a few hours but has amnesia, not knowing who she is or how she ended up washed ashore on his property. Alan cares for her for two weeks, and then her memory returns. She fell overboard while sailing with her wealthy parents on their yacht. She tells him that her name is April, and she provides him with contact information for her parents. Naturally, when Alan calls, they are ecstatic. They tell Alan that they will fly in to pick her up the next day and that he should tally up his expenses and they will reimburse him for his costs. When they arrive, Alan gives them the cost sheet, which they refuse to pay. Does Alan have any rights against the parents? Does Alan have any rights against April?

If you could design the ideal patient experience for a primary care doctor’s office what would it look like? Map each of the patient touch points beginning with the patient recognizing the need to visit a primary care doctor. Don’t forget important touch points in all three of the processes, people, place and process. Take the patient all the way through follow up care and resolution of the payment for the health service.
