• Based on feedback that you received from your Final Project Milestone submission, revise the slides/web pages you have submitted. Then, follow the instructions here for the remaining slides/web pages.
• Slide/web page 5: In Week 3, you identified five important people who helped in the development or growth of your chosen medium during its evolution. This week, analyze the contributions of these people to the history of the medium and add that information to the slide.
• Slide/web page 6: Make a summary statement about the effect of mass communication on people today based on the information collected for slides/web pages 1–5. Add a short bulleted list that highlights three predictions about where mass communication could lead people in the future.
• Slide/web page 7: Provide a total of 8 sources for your project. For all sources, record where you found information about them. Include all relevant information about the source (author; date of publication; the book, article, or website; etc.).

This discussion is an opportunity to further demonstrate your ability to apply the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to the design of instruction and assessment. As you learned last week from reading Edyburn (2013) Chapter 5 and viewing the CAST (2010) video UDL at a Glance, the three main principles supporting UDL are to Provide Multiple Means of (a) Representation (the “what of learning), (b) Action and Expression (the “how” of learning), and (c) Engagement (the “why” of learning). Within the checkpoint there are several examples and/or resources that support the principle and checkpoint. Next, choose one example/resource that interests you to explore, interact with, and evaluate. You may also choose to consider examples geared toward the grade level you are currently teaching, have experience in, or intend to teach.

Initial Post: Create a Jing tutorial or other multimedia-based presentation with software such as Present.me to showcase the specific UDL checkpoint example selected. Include the link to your Jing tutorial or presentation featuring the example/resource selected as well as written responses to the discussion points below. Your written response needs to be between one and two paragraphs in length. One of the ways to make your discussion engaging and effective is by including audio of your voice alongside a presentation of the information you have investigated. You can talk through these points during your tutorial. Keep in mind, the maximum length of a Jing video is five minutes so it will help to create a presentation in PowerPoint first that is five slides long with each slide covering one of the five points below. Green Marketing or Greenwashing?

As a means of demonstrating their social responsibility, many companies engage in cause or green marketing efforts; however, such efforts can backfire. In recent years, the terms greenwashingand cause washing have emerged to refer to marketing efforts that capitalize on the goodwill associated with environmental or charitable causes but reflect minimal commitment.

What to Do (and How to Do It)…

In this interactivity, you’ll read about Patagonia’s “Don’t Buy This Jacket” campaign and the cause washing phenomena. Then you’re going to decide if you judge this to be green marketing or greenwashing and how it impacts your likelihood to purchase.
