Op-Ed on the future of AI (artificial Intelligence) 1500 words.!

IMPORTANT! READ PLEASE

Write an op-ed (1500words) that will examine the answering questions that represent the big ideas of philosophers.
You will break down a complex subject into a short opinion piece, just like when a politician or business leader in your country writes an op-ed (opinion) entry in a newspaper or website blog. Additionally, this assessment will examine how well you argue your opinion, and how aware you are that your opinion is one among many other opinions of equal value to yours (that means you would be able to reflect on your knowledge).

The op-ed should show evidence of independent research and reading. A minimum of 5 relevant academic references should be used per individual contributor and these must be correctly referenced at the end of the group-submitted paper, and sources used should go beyond the reading provided in this Module Study Guide. Sources should be correctly cited in consistency with Harvard referencing style.

Don’t forget to have a look at the powerpoint please ! You will have to explain also the impact of AI in the humanity and compare it to all the technological inventions from the 16th century until today.

If any questions, please ask me.
And please NO PLAGIARISM, this is important to me.

Prepare

As you prepare to write this discussion, take a few moments to do the following:

  • Read any required and recommended reading materials for this week, especially Chapter 3 from the text.
  • Review the grading rubric for this discussion.
  • Select a full-length film from the AFI 10: Top 10 list.

Reflect Icon

Reflect

Our textbook sets up a distinction between story and plot, stating that story is what happens in a movie, and plot is how it happens. The distinction may seem minor; however, throughout this course, we will be scrutinizing the various aesthetic choices and cinematic techniques that work together to create meaning in any movie. With that in mind, we can see that how a film presents action can be very important.

Write Icon Write (due Thursday, Day 3)

Please view the video Adding Pictures and Video to Discussions and Introductions for guidance on how to integrate multimedia with your response.

In at least 200 words, describe the relationship of story to plot in your chosen film. Be sure to:

  • Identify the title, writer, director, major actors, and the year.
  • Summarize the story and plot of your chosen movie.
  • Discuss whether your film is presented chronologically or non-linearly. In your discussion, address the following:
    • How did this aesthetic choice contribute to the general effect on the audience?
    • How are elements like character development or foreshadowing impacted by the choice of storytelling methods?
  • If the film had followed a different presentation style, how would the general effect on the audience have been different?

You must use at least two outside sources, in any combination of embedded video clips, still photos, or scholarly sources. All sources should be documented in APA style as outlined by the Ashford Center.

Summary:

Based on the classic French fairy tale, it tells the story of Belle, an intelligent young woman scorned by her townspeople for being a bookworm, weary of fighting off the advances of the arrogant Gaston, and dreaming of escape. When her father gets lost in the woods and captured by the forbidding Beast, a once-handsome prince turned into a monster by a witch, Belle goes off to rescue him. Taken with her, the Beast agrees to release Belle’s father if she agrees to stay with him forever. Initially repulsed, Belle soon finds much to appreciate in the Beast’s hidden, tender nature. The Beast’s servants — a clock, a teapot, and a candlestick — see Belle as their salvation. If the Beast and a woman fall in love before his 21st birthday, he, along with his servants, will be freed from the curse

political science -03

Writing requirement, choose One !!!! option to write, either option A or option B or option C. . Word count: 350

A) In the film A Face in the Crowd there is a commercial for a ‘vitality’ pill called Vitajex. Is a sequence like this commercial – so distinct from the rest of the film – a more effective means of conveying ideas than a traditional scene? What from your viewing experience makes you feel this way?

B) A Face in the Crowd, released in 1957 in black and white, relies extensively throughout the film on dramatic lighting to assist in the story telling. What is a key theme from the film that you think is especially highlighted or enhanced through the lighting choices made throughout the film? How is this theme or idea being conveyed?

C) In Chapter 3 it highlights the fact that films are not created in a political vacuum but are impacted directly and profoundly by the environment (social, political, and economic) of the time they were made in. Think about how the behaviors, images, and ideas that we see in films might shift across films of different ratings (e.g. G, PG, PG13, R) or across films of the same rating across time (e.g. a PG13 movie in 1978 vs. 2018). What if anything can we learn about a society’s social and cultural values based on the ratings films get during that time? Does it tell us more about the actual values of the time or the perceived or desired values of the institutions doing the rating?

Chapter 3 material is post in the attached file, need to use chapter 3 materials.

Module 9 Discussions (pick one if the three questions )

Each of the discussion questions below are questions related to this Module. A reply should between 300 and 700 words and may be in video or PowerPoint form. Extra points are given for references, especially in peer reviewed papers and in APA format. References should include links, if applicable. You should subscribe to the discussion and respond to comments from other students.

You are also asked to respond to at least two other students discussion questions for the module they’ve selected. Students are also encouraged to comment to discussions throughout the semester.

1 – Assurance of Proper Waste Diversion

Sometimes waste diverted for recycling cannot find a marketable reuse. This waste is stored and eventually disposed at a landfill sometimes creating environmental issues related to how it was stored. In addition, a considerable quantity of diverted waste has been exported. It is well known that some of that waste has never been reused or recycled and has essentially been disposed of in a way that is less environmental sound than solid waste landfilling. An example of this is when recycled goods were sent to China and then actually ended up in giant uncontrolled waste piles. The US simply exported a commodity that resulted in a worse environmental impact than landfilling here in the US.

How might waste recycling or reuse be assured? What kind of precautions should be required for recycled commodity export?

Discussion Question 2 – Creating Markets for Reuse

The fact that something can be recycled doesn’t in itself create a market for that commodity. When laws and regulations are created to divert something from disposal, the market is instantly flooded with material, often driving the price negative. It can be argued that diversion mandates, in fact, regulate the wrong end of the recycling market and that requiring manufactures to acquire larger portion of their raw materials from reclaimed materials would be overall, more productive. However, disposal has proven easier to regulate the production.

Do you agree or disagree with the regulation of manufacturing to require reuse of recycled raw materials? Sometimes recycling is more expensive than raw materials. Should businesses be compensated for that difference? Are there other ways that recycling markets might be encouraged?

Discussion Question 3 – Solid Waste Incineration

Solid waste incineration is an obvious choice in places where land is limited. In addition, incineration can produce a lot of energy partly off-setting the cost of solid waste disposal. Also, there can be up to 90% reduction in landfill volume. Even though incineration produces small amounts of unavoidable air pollution, it is unquestionably much less than air pollution from landfilling. However, incineration doesn’t encourage source reduction given that many of the things which burn well can also be recycled. Landfills can also produce energy but in doing so, may also generate enormous greenhouse gas emissions.

Considering the advantages and disadvantages of solid waste incineration, do you feel this might be an appropriate technology for Southern California where it is extremely difficult to find landfill space near waste sources? Are greenhouse gas emissions enough of a concern to off-set concerns about source reduction? Discuss.

HUMANITIES TERM PAPEr

Term paper prompts

HUM 110 final essay options: 5 pages (min. 1500 word count), 1” margins, double-spaced, 10/12 pt. type. Use at least two outside sources (cited).

Choose one and submit to the Final Essay portal to the left (same column as Discussions), once it becomes available in the last weekend of term.

1) Utopia:

In this paper you‘ll respond to the notion of utopia. First, write a good paragraph that summarizes Plato’s Republic, the original utopia. Then research two other utopias, to provide a paragraph apiece on their main aspects. Choose from any of these:

Thomas More, Utopia; William Morris, News From Nowhere; Samuel Butler, Erewhon; Edward Bellamy, Looking Backward; H.G. Wells, A Modern Utopia; B.F. Skinner, Walden II; Ernest Callenbach, Ecotopia.

Finally, describe what you would consider a perfect society. What problems would need to be solved, and how? You need to consider social, economic, educational, environmental, and any other areas that would be important and necessary. Obviously everyone has different ideas about what’s important and/or problematic, so there’s no absolute right or wrong. Nonetheless , take the categories seriously and develop your own ideal society!

2) Cultural comparison:

Choose two of the civilizations we’ve studied throughout the term and compare their aesthetics, using at least two examples from each culture. You may compare examples of architecture, sculpture, literature, philosophy, and so on. Using the 3-step Cunningham-Reich rubric from the start of term (see below for Humanities-A Primer), analyze the works for their unique qualities — again choosing two from each civilization. Start with a solid paragraph describing the historical context: e.g., what life in ancient Egypt was like, or the Minoan World, or Imperial Rome, etc. Then consider the specifics of the artwork (what it is, how it was made, what style or genre it represents). Then interpret it to explain both what it was intended to be (purpose/message) and how you perceive it as a modern viewer.

aesthetics – art and taste, the appreciation of beauty

SOCIAL ELEMENT: Work in historical context

FORMAL ELEMENT: Design (how made materials, etc.) & composition (style, technique)

SYMBOLIC ELEMENT: Purpose (why made?) & message (intended or not)

See Module 1 for the complete Cunningham-Reich text.

3) The Epic of Gilgamesh: Choose from one of these three topics.

a) The Epic overview:

Gilgamesh meets his match in, but makes a best friend of, who? How are they finally separated, and where does his friend end up? After that event, Gilgamesh sets out in search of what? In your explanation of this, you’ll need to mention at least two clear plot details, such as what specific goal Gilgamesh and his friend have when they fight the giant goblin Humbaba, or how Utnapishtim’s wife proves that Gilgamesh has dozed off and has therefore forfeited his prize. Also, are any such details etiological in nature? You should be able to isolate at least one mythologem.

b) Myths and traditions:

“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” is an adage that resonates in the episode of Gilgamesh and the goddess Ishtar. Explain the source of the phrase, briefly, and then describe the means in the poem that she uses to show her displeasure at him. Again, cite at least 3 plot details/characterizations/events. As part of your paper, you may connect this with other mythologies, provided you cite any outside sources (see syllabus) and that the consequent discussion constitutes no more than paragraph. You should be able to isolate at least one mythologem.

c) Synopsis and Invention:

Pick a specific episode and provide your own summary of the plot, in your best narrative style. Then state the key problems that the hero(s) face? And that of their adversaries? Be creative with this, while getting the facts straight, as it were. Imagine yourself telling the story in that fabulous ancient capital built, according to the Enuma Elish, as a residence for the god Marduk. Equally, imagine the life of Shin-Eqi-Unnini, transcribing, editing, and reimagining the total story at the great library of his master, King Ashurbanipal. As part of your paper, you should be able to utilize at least one mythologem.

Here are the links to the various versions of the poem (the same ones I posted earlier in the term):

?Appropriateness of Communication

Appropriateness of Communication

Most organizations use some form of controlled, unmediated communication to communicate directly with key stakeholders, even if only in unusual situations. Today’s electronic media make such communication much simpler; with such tools as e-mail, blogs, or Twitter, even small organizations find ways to circumvent traditional media gatekeepers to control both the content and the delivery timing of some messages.

Thus, when communicating financial information, there are a variety of options, and each option suits audiences differently. What might you need to keep in mind when using various types of media to communicate financial information to different audiences? What are the possible implications of different types of communications? How might communications regulations contribute to these considerations and implications?

Evaluate the appropriateness of communication platforms and styles to audiences. You will also compare strategies related to how and when to differentiate between internal and external communications.

To prepare:

  • Recall experiences within your own organization, or an organization with which you are familiar, that required controlled communications, especially to relay pertinent or sensitive financial information. Reflect on whether their efforts were effective or if they caused more questions than answers.
  • Consider how you would determine the appropriate platform and strategies for communicating financial information to various stakeholders (for example, communicating financial information to external stakeholders like banks or lending institutions on quarterly financial results versus how to communicate that information internally).
  • Consider the importance of differentiating between internal and external communications.

In a one page summary answer the following questions:

  • What communication platforms would you recommend to communicate financial information appropriately to internal and external audiences?
  • Which styles do you believe would be most effective, in general, in internal communications? In external communications? Why?
  • Why must external communications be treated differently than internal communications?
  • Why must organizations remain careful, even when distributing internal communications?

?Assignment 1: Description of Research Methodology

Assignment 1: Description of Research Methodology

In this assignment, you will write an essay about the research methods and ethical implications of a social psychology study. You will get information about the study from one of the entries in the SPARQ “Solutions Catalog”, which is a web site maintained by Stanford University at https://sparq.stanford.edu/solutions?&&. SPARQ is an acronym for “Social Psychological Answers to Real-world Questions.” Each entry in the Solutions Catalog names a problem, and then offers a solution to that problem, based on a research study in social psychology.

To keep this assignment short and manageable, your only sources for this assignment should be from the SPARQ site and your course materials, such as your textbook. There is no need for you to cite any of the course materials. Therefore, no additional citations or references are needed, beyond those from the SPARQ site.

In this exercise, you will choose one of the entries in the SPARC site, and then write a two to three (2-3) page paper that meets the following requirements.

  1. Begin your paper with a short introductory statement that clearly identifies the article from the SPARQ site that you are using, as well as the corresponding research article. Model your statement after the following example:

The article I selected from the SPARQ website is entitled “Boost Grades by Reframing Failures” (Wilson, n.d.), which summarizes a research article (Wilson & Linville, 1982) on the topic.

      • Please note that there are two APA “in-text citations” in this example. The first citation “(Wilson, n.d.)” is an in-text citation for the SPARQ article. The SPARQ articles are undated, which means that there is no date of publication reported. The “n.d.” designation is an abbreviation for “no date”.
      • The second citation “(Wilson & Linville, 1982)”, is an in-text citation to the original research article. We are asking you to cite this paper for practice in using APA, but are not requiring you to read the original paper. Normally, you should cite only those articles that you actually read and used, but we’re making an exception here for the purposes of practice.
  1. Briefly summarize the main details of your chosen social psychology research study. Identify the main research method(s) used in the study (e.g., case study, experiment, observation, etc.).
  2. Explain whether or not you believe the research methodology that the researchers used in the study was the most appropriate for the study. Provide a rationale for your response.
  3. Discuss whether or not you believe the research methodology used in the study is the one (1) method that provides researchers with the most information in general. Explain the main reasons why or why not.
  4. Explain the major ethical implications of the selected study (e.g., informed consent, debriefing, etc.). Describe the main reasons why you believe the study was or was not ethical. Provide a rationale for your response.
  5. The final section of your paper will be a reference section that contains a corresponding reference for both of the in-text citations in your introductory statement (see point #1, above). In APA-style citations, in-text citations must match up with a reference in the reference section. You can model your reference section after the following:

Wilson, T. D. (n.d.). Boost grades by reframing failures. Retrieved from https://sparq.stanford.edu/solutions/boost-grades-…
Wilson, T. D. & Linville, P.W. (1982). Improving the academic performance of college freshmen: attribution therapy revisited. Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 42 (2), 367-376.

      • These examples follow the APA conventions for an Internet article, and a professional journal article, respectively.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Describe research methods that are used for studying social psychology.
  • Develop an increased understanding of the dynamic between society and individuals.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in social psychology.
  • Write clearly and concisely about social psychology using proper grammar and mechanics.
