Final Project

This project is designed to show your knowledge of how to apply what you have learned into practice. Your assignment is to choose one health condition that you want to research. Examples of conditions to choose include: Weight Loss, Heart Disease, Depression, Anxiety, Fibromyalgia, Sports Enhancement, etc. Once you have done your research, create a supplement that you would put on the market to aid in the healing of the condition that you chose. Additionally, your project is to write a five page report on why you chose the ingredients that you did.

Include all of the following in this report:

This project should follow the conventions of Standard American English (correct grammar, punctuation, etc.). Your writing should be well ordered, logical and unified, as well as original and insightful. Your work should display superior content, organization, style, and mechanics.

This project should be a written report that is at least five pages in length and in APA format (12 pt. font, double spaced, proper referencing in the body of the paper as well as on a references page, title page, etc.). When it is completed, submit your project following the instructions below. (300 pts.)

In this module, we’ve learned a great deal about the value of history, how learning from the past may help provide definition to our present world perspective and how studying and learning from our ancient ancestors can potentially contribute in shaping our own future. Throughout this course, we have examined various civilizations and in each one we’ve learned about a myriad of aspects that helped influence our ancestors’ capacity to act responsibly and determine their roles or abilities to contribute to society.

For this reflection, you will answer the question:

“What can I, as an historian of the ancient world, learn and apply from the history of my ancient ancestors to my own role in contributing to and acting responsibly for the betterment of society?”

In order to answer this question effectively for your reflection you must:

• Pick one common theme/criteria topic (from the list below) that you think significantly influenced an individual from the ancient world to act responsibly and contribute towards society.

• Explain how at least one specific example (one individual) from at least three different civilizations covered throughout this course supports your selected theme/criteria. (So, your essay will talk about 3 different people – each from a different civilization that we discussed.)
• Support each of your examples with evidence from the articles in the M13 learning module about why we study history. In total, you must reference at least three of the articles in the learning activities,
• Support each of your examples with evidence from the module where we discussed their civilization (So, you will reference at least 3 learning modules in your paper.)
• Connect how understanding the history of your ancient ancestors in the context of your selected theme/ criteria has influenced your sense of responsibility and contributing role towards the betterment of society. In other words, what have you learned from their experiences that can help you act more responsibly today?
• Lastly, make sure you provide proper internal citations and a properly formatted bibliography

This is going into your portfolio so be sure to make sure that you have fixed all grammatical and formatting issues before submission.

For your bibliography, it does NOT have to be annotated. The only sources you’ll be using will be from your readings, so you MUST include internal citations and a full, properly MLA formatted bibliography with your paper, but you don’t need to annotated the sources in your bib.

Your paper must be 2-3 pages in length (NOT including your bibliography) and follow MLA guidelines (double-spaced, 12pt. Times New Roman font, one-inch margins). This assignment is worth a total of 75 points. Consult the HIST 134 Portfolio Reflection Rubric for a more in-depth articulation of the requirements for this assignment. This rubric is available when you open the assignment.

Gender in the Media

Using a sociological theory presented in one of the assigned readings for this class, analyze a story that is currently in the news or trending on social media. Be sure to describe the following:

1) How the story depicts an aspect of gender inequality that is playing out in a modern-day context, and

2) How the theory you have chosen as an analytical tool helps us to better understand and critique the processes that perpetuate that inequality.

Module 2 – SLP

Organizational Structures and Functions

1. The intent of the SLP is for you to transform the theoretical and general aspects as covered and based in each module’s case paper, to a “Board-meeting” presentation.
2. The SLP (like the cases) is a cumulative project that will
   demonstrate the culmination of your understanding and your ability to
   identify the key points of your case work, and transform them into
   relevant slides utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint software (PPT).
3. Remember that the presentation will be submitted to the “MHA599 Consulting Team” (MHA599CT) board of directors at their bi-weekly board meeting, so presentation needs to be directed to this executive audience.
4. I am confident that you will enjoy developing this project, and hone your business presentation skills in the process.

Guidelines for Effective PowerPoint Presentations

1. Do not attempt to dazzle your audience with psychedelic visual effects, multi colors, and eye-boggling animations.
2. Do not just copy and paste your case text into the slides.
3. Focus on the content and what message you want to get across to the board.
4. Think Audience – Ensure that all slides are viewable (i.e., relevant text in viewable font size.)
5. “one picture is worth a thousand words” – include graphs, diagrams, etc., as appropriate.
6. Do not use all caps except for titles.
7. Keep the background consistent and subtle.
8. Use only enough text when using charts or graphs to explain; clearly label the graphic.
9. Keep the design clean and uncluttered. Leave empty space around the text and graphics.
10. Check the spelling and grammar.

SLP – Organization

1. The number of slides per module should be about 10-15.
2. Prepare and submit the sectional/modular slides for each module,
   adding the preceding ones (i.e., in Module 2 you will combine and submit
   sections 1 and 2, and so on.
3. Amend each section per the feedback you will get from your instructor.
4. Finally, you will aggregate all sections into one complete and
   comprehensive PPT following the SLP framework detailed below, and submit
   together by the due date of Module 4.

The complete SLP will consist of the following sections:

1. Title slide – to be submitted in Module 1.
2. Background – to be submitted in Module 1.
3. The External Environment – Data Gathering – to be submitted in Module 1.

6. Finance and Budgeting – to be submitted in Module 3.
7. Quality, Ethical, and IT Controls – to be submitted in Module 4.
8. Conclusions and Recommendations – to be submitted in and for all modules.

SLP Assignment Expectations

As
stated in the course and modular outcomes, you are expected to
demonstrate critical thinking and a solid analytical and theoretical
knowledge of all previous courses in the program.

Furthermore,
emphasis should be inputted on applying what you already know to the
task of developing an individual project that reflects synthesis,
integration, and real-life application (action plans).

As
the environment is of a real-life project team, you will be assessed as
to how well you present your work to your company and peers (writing
and presentations).

Feedback and comments from your instructor and peers should be implemented and early recommendations adjusted accordingly.
