The Great Barrier Reef, an oceanic jewel located in the eastern coast of Queensland, Australia, is the largest system of coral reefs found on Earth. It is a geological feature that is half alive (corals, sponges, shellfish, fish, etc.) and half inanimate (calcium carbonate rocky reefs). How in the world this geologic and biologic feature formed, and how is it continually maintained? Was this Great Barrier Reef always there, since billions of years ago? Why is it so amazingly long (about 1,400 miles) and why is it considered the largest biologically created structure in the world? Why should we humans care about the Great Barrier Reef? Is it dying, or is it still growing? Investigate about the Great Barrier Reef and write an essay about it. The essay must be written entirely in your OWN words. The essay must be at least three paragraphs long, and each paragraph must contain at least five sentences (you can write more than three paragraphs and more than five sentences per paragraph if you wish to do so). If needed, you can quote, but this does not count towards the last tally of number of paragraphs and sentences being required from your OWN writing. In Chapter 2 facilities and equipment are discussed. Injuries often occur because of poor facilities and faulty equipment. These types of injuries can easily be prevented. In this activity you will consider issues regarding hazards common to facilities and equipment used in a sport you would like to coach. For this assignment, you will develop a power point that describes a sport of your choosing, the type of facility and equipment used, and at least 2 injuries that are directly related to hazardous conditions, poorly maintained facilities, or damaged equipment. You must clearly link facility/equipment hazards to specific injuries common to participation in that sport. Lastly, describe how you would address these issues (hazards) as a coach to prevent these injuries. The injuries and prevention strategies must clearly relate to the hazards chosen. Your PPT should also include a minimum of 3 graphics.
