For
this project, you will analyze a business case and make
recommendations based on the outcome of your analysis. The goal is to
demonstrate strategic critical thinking skills when analyzing a
business scenario, taking all factors into account, and recommend a
strategy to move that company forward. Your analysis and
recommendations should flow together, providing your readers with a
clear picture of the issues at hand and leading them to the logical
conclusion of your strategic recommendations. Your case analysis
should be designed for an audience of working adults who are seeking
to improve their understanding of your chosen topic.

The
case you will analyze is included in your text, specifically, “Case
30: Yahoo! Inc.: Marissa Mayer’s Challenge,” pages 30-1 to
30-12. In preparation for your case analysis, read “Guide to
Strategic Management Case Analysis” in the text, which provides
valuable advice on how to analyze a business case. As you develop
your analysis and recommendations, use the tools provided in your
text to guide you. Also, consider the information and knowledge you
are acquiring and think about how you can apply this in your current
professional work.

In order to receive the full 5 extra credit points, you must make a checklist of 3-5 things you can work on and why when preparing Sunday’s rough draft. Your reflection must be 100-200 words. Please submit an MLA-formatted document with your word count as a 5th line in the heading. Use a .doc, .docx, or .pdf file format. Make sure you are using complete sentences, though bullet points or numbering is acceptable.

Here are some suggestions for you to work on as you revise your draft:

MLA Formatting: 1) Make sure your header is the same font size and style as the rest of the paper, and include one space between the name and page number. 2) Avoid extra spacing between the word count and title. 3) Do not put your title in bold.

Title: Good–just capitalize “Analysis.”

Introduction: 1) Opener looks fine.. 2) You need to include an extensive summary of his article. You can use the one you submitted for homework. 3) You need to identify his target audience, tone, and purpose.

Thesis: Right now, you do not have a thesis that indicates to the reader what your task for this essay will be. Be sure to also put your thesis in bold.
Organizational Plan: Your plan is not clear, overall. Some of your body paragraphs do not have clear topics, and others seem to repeat topics already covered.

Body Paragraphs: You should aim for 2-3 direct quotes from the article per body paragraph to support each topic sentence.
Conclusion: More evaluation needed.

Templates: Use and underline a minimum of 10.
Grammar: Overall, you need to work on punctuation, word choice, and spelling.

Victorian Creations

Victorian Creations specializes in the reproduction of furniture from the Victorian era. Recently the company updated its payroll software as an in-house development project. Users and IT staff members have completed comprehensive training sessions. The system has been operational for about six weeks, and no major problems have occurred. You are responsible for the post-implementation evaluation.

Tasks

Are there general guidelines that apply to the timing of a post-implementation evaluation? What are they?

Is this the best time to schedule a post-implementation evaluation? Why or why not? Are there other options? What are they?

Your paper should be around 500-750 words and reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards. Please include citations to support your ideas.

You are an investigator with the District Attorney’s Investigation Team for a major metropolitan area. You are one of the recently hired 16 new investigators that will be sprinkled throughout the department. All 16 of you have had little time as investigators and the Chief’s concern is that you all are properly trained in issues of the exclusionary rule to avoid problems later on during investigations. This is a political hot potato because these are supposed to be the best investigators in the jurisdiction. Your goal is to develop a 5-6 page white paper that outlines concerns for Exclusionary Rule issues.

In a white paper of 5-6 pages to be presented to the newly assigned investigators, please include responses to the bulleted issues listed below. It is critical that when you make a statement of fact in your presentation that you cite the reference you obtained the information from in the text of the paper and that the reference is included in your reference page.     • What are the benefits of the Exclusionary Rule? Explain.
  • Identify at least two methods of demonstrative evidence which would explain the concept of “Best Evidence”. You may use scenarios to describe the theory of Best Evidence.
  • Explain to the newly appointed investigators the absolute adherence to avoiding any evidentiary issue that would result in a “Fruit of the Poisonous Tree” violation. Explain the ramifications and results of such a violation. Use at least two scenarios to demonstrate this issue.
  • Explain to the new investigators the idea behind the courts displeasure with issues like the Christian Burial Speech. What might it mean in the long run to a serious case just as it did with Brewer v. Williams.
  • Explain the types of behavior that may result in the application of the Shocking the Conscience of the Court Test. Provide at least one scenario as demonstrative instruction.
  • Provide instruction that coercion is a clear violation of the constitution. What areas are violated and what types of behavior are considered coercion.
  • What are the liabilities of the Exclusionary Rule? Explain.
