Assessment Instructions

For this assignment, you have just been engaged by a school district to research intelligence testing for middle schoolers. Your task is to research intelligence testing and look for resources to help you understand the history of IQ testing, as well as reasons for and against its use today. Then, complete the following:

• Write a report with recommendations to school administrators about whether or not we should test children’s intelligence.
• Keep in mind that, to make the strongest argument, you need to acknowledge both sides of the IQ testing issue and answer the overriding question: Should we test children’s intelligence at all? The aim of your report should be to inform the administrators of your particular point of view.
• In your report, address the following areas:
  • What intelligence tests measure.
  • How IQ tests measure intelligence.
  • Historical perspective on IQ tests.
  • Whether intelligence tests are culturally biased.
  • Whether or not your school will be administering intelligence testing and why that decision was made. Provide an explanation of your decision.
• Cite relevant research to support the details you include. Be sure to reference as least three scholarly articles.

• APA formatting: Ensure that resources and citations are formatted according to current APA style and formatting guidelines.

A 13-year-old boy living in urban poverty with his mother and six younger siblings is currently getting in trouble at school. He has never been in trouble before. But the teachers say he is becoming belligerent toward authority figures, sloppy in his schoolwork and ignoring friends he has had since kindergarten. He also is beginning to come to school with eyes glassy, bloodshot, half shut, a grin on his face, and loads of snacks. He used to be athletic but now he sits around and does not appear motivated to complete normal tasks he enjoyed last year. His mother has found small amounts of marijuana in the pockets of his jeans.

Executive Summary : A brief background of the company – where it initially started, some relevant anecdotal information etc…. Careful not to get into trivial and non-pertinent ‘filler’ stories!

Competitive analysis :describe your main competitors. For example, what are their strengths/weaknesses, do they tap into the same market segments as you, what do they have that you don’t and what do you have that they don’tetc….

Performance review : for example, how did the revenues fluctuate over the past 5 or 10 years (no real need to go beyond that window). Same for the key competitors – pick 4 or 5 main competitors for this comparison. Explain strong shifts (up or down).

Market analysis : how has the market changed over the past few years? Trends, customer profiles, laws & regulations, etc…..

Conclusion : Would you invest in this company? Said differently, do you see this as a growth company that you would buy shares in? why?
