Interest Group Consultant Simulation

In this activity you will be pretending to be a consultant for an interest group. You will be charged with helping that interest group better achieve its goals. Have fun and be creative in this activity!

Your paper should be at least 500 words long.

• First, select an interest group from the following list that you will be consulting for (*you may only complete this assignment on one the listed interest groups):

• In the first sentence of your paper please state very clearly what interest group you have selected.
• Next, describe in your own words, what your selected interest group mission is. Do not copy and paste or quote the organization’s mission in your paper. Use your own words.
• Next, take that mission statement and rewrite it in a new short one sentence “elevator pitch” that you think would be more effective. Feel free to get creative.
• Look up your selected interest groups website. What is the web address? What do you like about their website? What do you think could be improved about their website?
• Look up your selected interest group on social media. What is good about their social media presence? What could be improved about their social media presence?
• Look up your selected interest group on OpenSecrets or the Federal Elections Commission website and discuss your findings. How much money does your interest group have? What is that money being spent on? In your opinion, are they using their money effectively? How could they spend their money to better accomplish their goals?
• Come up with at least one completely original idea that could be use to improve your selected interest groups efforts. Describe this idea in detail. What specific goal would this idea seek to accomplish? What types of resources would this idea need. How would this idea improve the organization’s efforts to achieve its mission.
• Finally, be sure to provide a reference list.

answers, please make sure your responses are well written, formatted per APA and have proper citations, if applicable.

Garner Company began operations on January 1, 2015, and uses the
average cost method of pricing inventory. Management is contemplating a
change in inventory methods for 2018. The following information is
available for the years 2015–2017.

On January 1, 2017, Garner issued 10-year,
$200,000 face value, 6% bonds, at par. Each $1,000 bond is convertible
into 30 shares of Garner common stock. The company has had 10,000 common
shares outstanding throughout its life. None of the bonds have been
exercised as of the end of 2018. (Ignore tax effects.)

1. Using the spreadsheet Journal Entries, prepare the journal entry
   necessary to record a change from the average cost method to the FIFO
   method in 2018.
2. Assume Garner Company used
   the LIFO method instead of the average cost method during the years
   2015–2017. In 2018, Garner changed to the FIFO method. Using the
   spreadsheet Journal Entries, prepare the journal entry necessary to
   record the change in accounting principle.
3. Assume Garner had the
   accounting change described in (2); Garner’s income in 2018 was $30,000.
   Compute basic and diluted earnings per share for Garner Company for
   2018. Show how income and EPS will be reported for 2018 and 2017.

Locate an article in the CSU Online Library that focuses on managing conflict in an organization through communication.
The article must be clearly related to the course content and have the potential to contribute significant analysis and
substantial engagement with the course topic.

For this assignment, you will need to accurately identify the article’s premise, significant points in support of the premise,
and the significance of those points to the course and/or the field. You need to present an insightful and thorough analysis
of the article with strong arguments and evidence. Your interpretation will need to be both reasonable and compelling.
You will need to apply course concepts in your analysis.

As you write the review, be certain to analyze the type of conflict discussed in the article. Use the classifications discussed
in the Unit III Lesson (Rahim’s functional outcomes and Rahim’s dysfunctional outcomes) in your analysis. Be certain to
suggest communication techniques to manage functional conflict or, alternately, communication techniques to resolve
dysfunctional conflict.

Along with the article being reviewed, you will need to reference at least two peer-reviewed sources. Use the standard
five-paragraph format (introduction/body/conclusion). APA format should be used. The critical review should be a
minimum of two pages in length. Content, organization, and grammar/mechanics will be evaluated.

1. Culture is a very important aspect on some people lives, however, a lot of people do not realize the impact their culture has on their lives. Culture includes the attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors of social and ethnic groups that has been kept in existence for many years (Black, 2020). One’s language, the things they wear, the food they eat, the activities they include in their day-to-day life, their outlook towards other cultures, their belief on health and spiritual levels, their outlook on women, men, children, marriage, education, careers, and more all are decided upon by their culture (Black, 2020).

Nurses must care for different patients that come from different cultures, therefore, having different beliefs that may even vary from their own. Due to that, it is vital that nurses develop the ability to meet the need of culturally diverse patients (Black, 2020). The “perfect” nurse educates themselves on the importance of being aware of patient’s cultural beliefs and to respect them. They also try to include patients’ cultural preference in the plan of care whenever it is possible.

Patients of different cultures are at risk of experiencing ethnocentrism while receiving care (Black, 2020). Ethnocentrism is believing that your culture and beliefs are superior to others culture and beliefs. Nurses may feel the want to ignore the patient’s cultural beliefs as it relate to their care because it does not relate to their own, however, it is important to include the patient’s cultural health beliefs in the plan of care to make a better outcome on the patients’ health (Black, 2020).

It is possible to learn about other cultures, without stereotyping. As a nurse it is important that the patients are always top priority. Therefore, understanding different cultures and knowing that it is normal to have different beliefs helps nurses provide the best care. A nurse accepting the patients culture allows the nurse to implement their beliefs in the care and create the best outcome for the patient

Choose one Supreme Court case or one educational policy pertaining to English language learners (ELLs). In a 500-750 word essay, discuss the effect that this case or policy has had on the education of ELLs. Your essay should address the following questions:

• How has this case or policy helped contribute to the academic success of ELLs?
• How will this case or policy help improve education for ELLs?
• What gaps still exist?

Support your essay with at least three scholarly resources. You will need a reference list with at least three peer reviewed sources.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style. An abstract is not required.

There is a rubric for grading the assignment this week. Here is how the rubric is applied to your work.

There are 8 parts to the rubric. The first four are:

Court case or educational policy, Impact on teaching, Contribution to academic success of ELL’s, and Improvements and gaps.

The highest score in this section is a 5 for excellent. To earn a 5 in any of those areas you need to search the GCU library databases for at least 3 peer reviewed sources that you can cite in the presentation of the court case or educational policy that you select. In addition, a well written essay will provide examples to support what you say. An example might be used to illustrate the practical impact on teaching or the academic success of ELL’s or gaps that still remain. The document titled Help with Papers posted in the Add-Ons section under the Resources Tab tells how to locate peer reviewed sources. .com, .org, .net, and .gov documents are not usually peer reviewed.

The second four parts of the rubric are:

organization, research citations, APA format, and writing mechanics.

Again, the highest score is a 5 for excellent. To earn a 5 in any of those for areas you need to use good organization. One way is to simply present what you intend to say in the order listed on the rubric. It also helps to use headings to guide the reader. Most of the APA headings you would use would be level 2, flush left and bold. The sources cited should be in correct APA format for citations in text and on the reference list.

If you select a court case, pages 217-224 of the APA Manual 6^th edition show how to cite court cases and laws passed by the legislature correctly. Court cases and laws passed by Congress have a name and a series of numbers to tell where the original document is located.
