Then you will:

Write a one page proposal (Word document) on the company you select as the focus for your B2B marketing project.

In your proposal explain why you chose this company along with what you see as characteristics of their current B2B strategy. Use all of the course resources at your disposal including the company website to help you understand and articulate what you see as their B2B markets and strategy.

One of the goals of this project is for you to prepare a revised branding strategy for the company. In your proposal include your early thoughts on how you might re-brand some or all of your company’s strategy and why.

2nd Written Assignment:

For this week, there will be a second written assignment which students need to complete. Students are to read Molefi Kete Asante’s article, “Locating a Text: Implications of Afrocentric Theory”, and apply his literary critical theory to your first assignment. For example, students are to review and evaluate the last book, novel, short story, poem, drama, or non-fiction that they chose to discuss for their first assignment at the beginning of the semester. The writing assignment should consist of 750–1000 words. Writing minimum requirement: 3–4 pages (double-spaced). The essay itself must consist of an introduction, multiple fully developed body paragraphs and a conclusion along with a separate works cited page. The assignment must be written in MLA format. The objective of this assignment is to help assist students with developing better reading techniques. In this second assignment, students need to consider these four categories of analysis when completing their’ assignments:

–Language (1):

How is the author using language in the text? What does the language tell us about the author of the text? How does the author use language to communicate their ideas to the reader? What words jump out at you from the text? Why? What does the language from the text tell us about deeper societal issues like racial discrimination, sexism, homophobia, gentrification, mass incarceration, income inequality, poverty, voting rights, access to equal education, the education achievement gap between Black and white students, lack of equal access to health care, Black on Black violence, and the police shootings of countless African Americans? How does the language from the text direct us toward developing solutions which will lead to improving the conditions of the Black community?

–Self-consciousness (2):

Do we learn anything important about African American people and their’ culture from the text? How does the author situate their self in the text? In other words, is the author grounded in a Eurocentric worldview or an African-centered worldview? Does the author incorporate African-centered words, ideas, themes, symbols, metaphors, images, and concepts etc., in the stories he or she writes?

–Attitude (3):

How does the author locate their self in the text? In other words, how is language being used to describe other people from different racial backgrounds? Following that same line of reasoning, the question could also be posed: how does the author use language to refer to people of different nationalities and ethnicities? What would these answers possibly tell us about the author? What type of attitude has the author established in the text?

–Direction (4):

Where is the author taking us in the story? What is the author’s overall objective? What does the author want us to learn or take away from their story? What is the author’s personal interests or agenda that they are trying to establish in the text? What type of atmosphere does the author create in the text? What is the author’s purpose in writing this text?

Instructions for Local History Site Visit/Project

Your research assignment is designed to permit you the opportunity to experience Chicano history through visitation of a local cultural site in southern California.

You may select any one of the following types of places to visit in order to complete your assignment:

1. Museum (Example: Southwest Museum, Natural History Museum, Lacma, etc). Must be a Chicano- Mexican exhibit

2. historical house or other historical locale (Ex., Avila adobe on Olvera Street, Lopez House in San Fernando, San Fernando or San Gabriel Mission, Pio Pico House in Pico Rivera, Rancho Dominguez, Rancho Cerritos) etc.

3. Plaza de la Raza Cultural Center in East Los Angeles, Latino Museum (downtown Los Angeles) or other similar type of cultural sites

After you have selected a location and visited your site, please prepare a 2-3 (single space) page report that includes some documentation verifying your visit which concentrates on three themes of how local history can serve to broaden your understanding of the larger Chicano history perspective you gain in this course.

In my historical site visit i went to El Pollo Loco and the 3 themes i selected are cultural reproduction, food, language.

El Pollo Loco is an example of Cultural reproduction. In Mexico people sold rotisserie chicken on the side of the road and now you can get it at restaurant. This is an example of cultural reproduction. (Elaborate some more)

Theme 2

People from Mexico feel a sense of home by eating food familiar to them like Pollo Loco. Mexican people can get rotisserie chicken in an American restaurant and not just on side of the road. (Elaborate some more)

Theme 3

El Pollo Loco is also a place that promotes bilingualism (Language). For example, items have Spanish names: salsa verder, salsa roja, pico de gallo, aguacate, etc. El Pollo Loco promotes bilingualism in a society centered on being monolingual. (Elaborate some more)

Conclusion

Restate where you went? What you learned about Chicano and southwestern history from this assignment. And if possible describe any evidence that portrays political, social, economic and/or cultural factors in local history.

Reflect: The fact that the Constitution does not have a specific clause or reference to a right to privacy has become a very contentious cultural, social, and political issue in the United States. The ability of the government to enter into the private lives of American citizens has clearly been restricted by provisions in the Fourth Amendment, yet the debate over certain privacy based rights such as contraception, abortion rights, and consensual sexual activity continues today. In particular, when discussing abortion, many immediately begin to debate a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion or not. At the heart of the issue constitutionally, is not whether a woman has the right to make this decision but whether she has the right to privacy under the Fourth Amendment.

Before you sit down to write your paper, you may first want to
spend some time pondering what you think we can learn sociologically
about our local community — and the way it is impacted by globalization
— from this comparison of these different grocery in our region.

In this final report you will be assembling information from the
previous three steps of the assignment into a single, narrative
description of your research project. The report should begin with a
summary section where you describe what you observed and identify the
ways that the two food markets are both similar and different from one
another. In the next section you should interpret your
observations and try to link your observations to relevant sociological
concepts that we have learned about throughout the course.

Your final report should be labeled and organized in the following format:

• Summary: Provide a detailed description of each
  location referencing the guiding questions provided in Step 2 of the
  assignment. Use your field notes to support your descriptions. Limit
  this section to observable phenomena – things that you saw during your
  visit.
• Social/Neighborhood Context: For each location
  provide information about the social context. Where is this store
  located? Who does it serve? Use the data/information you gathered in
  Step 3 of this assignment to describe important aspects of the
  surrounding neighborhood and its inhabitants, i.e., their racial/ethnic
  breakdown, the foreign-born population, the median annual income, etc.
