Part I – Analysis of the External Environment

As part of the Strategic Business Plan, you have been asked to:

• Identify and analyze the major driving forces for change in the external environment of the motorcycle industry.
• Analyze the dynamics of competition using Porter’s Five Forces Model of Competition. Correctly assess the dynamics of competition.
• Provide at least three statistics about the size of the motorcycle industry such as revenue, growth rate, number of units sold by manufacturer/country, etc.
• Summarize the strategic issues firms in this industry face and identify their biggest threats.

This section should be titled “The Analysis of H-D’s External Environment.”

Part II – Internal Environment Analysis

Financial

Gather the financial information necessary to do a complete ratio analysis and the Balance Score Card (BSC) key metrics information.

If you were going to create a BSC, what would be the key metrics you would measure in each of the four BSC areas:

• Financial
• Customer
• Internal Business Process
• Learning and Growth

Perform a ratio analysis using H-D’s five-year financial performance. Interpret the meaning of the ratios and financial performance.

This section should be titled “The Analysis of H-D’s Current Strategy: Two Views.” Be sure to include the ratio analysis. You may also include other graphics to support your narrative.

Competitors

Based on your analysis, you must decide which two competitors present the biggest competitive threat to H-D.

Perform a financial ratio analysis for the competitors after looking at trends in financial performance over five years, and compare the trends to industry averages.

Be sure you have a clear ranking of the industries’ competitors.

This section should be titled “Competitor Analysis.” Be sure to include the financial ratio analysis. You may also include other graphics to support your narrative.

This assignment should be 4 to 8 pages in length.

Week Four Assignment: Evaluating Sources

PURPOSE: The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate critical thinking skills by researching a problem and identifying credible evidence to support your solution to it. To do so, you will evaluate sources in a, reasoned, reflective, and informed manner. Please refer to the rubric attached for detailed scoring criteria.

PREPARATION: Review the document “Evaluating CRAAP Guide” that is attached, as you will be referring to it when writing your evaluations of the sources you select for this assignment. Allow yourself plenty of time to search many sources before selecting ones to evaluate.

STEPS: The steps for this assignment are as follows:

1. Locate two sources using online library databases that are relevant to your research question. (I have not chosen a research question, so you may choose any research question you want). For this, you will need to focus on answering one question. You are encouraged to choose one that will help you learn more about your intended field of work, but you are free to select one of your own. Examples might include: “Was the Kelo vs. New London Supreme Court case an accurate interpretation of the Constitution?” “Are the current copyright rules fair to artists?” or “Should the Affordable Health Care Act be modified?” Each requires only a “yes” or “no” answer, but will need evidence to support that response.

2. Underneath each of the references, evaluate the source using the CRAAP (Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose) criteria as well as the points of criteria outlined in the text from your assigned readings this week.

Please use APA format for this assignment. There is no required page length, however, given the instructions for the assignment, my guess is it will be approximately two pages when completed. Please submit the completed assignment as a .doc file.

INSTRUCTIONS: For this assignment, you’ll choose a single publication and write for that, building on
the work you did defining the conversation in A2. You’ll still synthesize sources to define the
existing conversation, but this time, you’ll find some way to join the conversation yourself along the
way. Here is where you need to find a much narrower focus to pursue than in A2. What can you
contribute? What can we see about this topic (and how we should better talk about it) through your
eyes that we couldn’t quite see the same way through anyone else’s? You’ll need to tailor your
writing to suit the publication you’ve chosen.
SOURCES: You will naturally lose some sources and pick up new ones as your project progresses.
This time, you must use at least two “scholarly” sources, and at least eight sources total.

In this week’s Discussion, you will explore how ethics applies to issues in medicine. Bioethics is a distinct subject that takes medical and biological issues and analyzes them using ethical reasoning and theory. The topics discussed in bioethics are varied but these issues impact your lives directly.

Ethics in Medicine

Confidentiality is both common sense and professional convention, per the Hippocratic Oath, in the sense “I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know” (Lasagna, 1964). It is an obligation not only of those who are called up to take the oath as a matter of course, but all healthcare professionals.

Are there instances in which private medical information should be revealed to others in order to protect individuals or the public from harm? Please explain your position using ethical reasoning and theories.
