Write a three to four (3-4) page paper in which you:

1.Assess the probable difficulties and risks associated with using a public infrastructure such as the Internet as part of a business solution.

2.Analyze ING’s solution for providing security to determine if the solution is adequate or inadequate. Provide a rationale for your answer.

3.Critique the extranet solution and recommend one (1) change to the solution to provide better connectivity to brokers.

Use at least three (3) quality resources in this assignment. Note:Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

·Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; references must follow APA or school-specific format.

It is very important that you follow APA style when writing your summary. You will not receive full credit if you do not. The APA publication manual (6th edition) is available in the library. The body of your paper should be 1-2 pages (not including the title page).

The research article you choose to summarize has to first be approved by me by no later than. You will email me the pdf version of the article attached to the email and I will inform you if the article is approved (or not). If not approved, you will be asked to look for another article. Your goal for this assignment is to apply an ethical theory
to a real-world situation. You will examine an environmental issue and
apply one of the ethical theories to it to understand how human
interactions with the natural environment raise ethical concerns. You
will do this by preparing and posting a PowerPoint slideshow consisting
of 12 slides with a separate section under each slide for notes.

• Choose one of the following topics or issues, and read about it at the indicated place:
  • Environmental justice and environmental racism (Read Environmental Justice for All)
  • Environmental harm, like the pollution of air and water (Read Chapter 8 in the textbook)
  • Waste reduction (Read Chapter 8 in the textbook)
• Select one philosophical theory (i.e., utilitarianism,
  deontology, or virtue ethics). Consider the following questions
  pertaining to the theory you have selected:
  • What does the theory tell us about how things operate in the real world?
  • What is the focus of the theory? That is, what aspects of everyday life (or what questions) does the theory address?
• The focus helps you think about the topical boundaries of
  the theory. This course is about ethics and social responsibility, so
  you should concentrate on the ethical and moral aspects of both the
  theory and topic you are analyzing. It may help to think in terms of
  different realms or institutions. Does the theory help explain people’s
  behavior from a political, economic, religious, or ethical perspective?
  Try to sort through everything that does not represent an ethical
  question, and address only the ethical issues.
  • How does the theory simplify complex issues to make
    them more understandable? Another way to think about this is to consider
    the concepts that make up the theory. Identify the concepts and how
    they are related to each other.
• Develop one thesis question that applies your
  philosophical theory to your environmental issue. You will address this
  question by developing an argument that links the theory to the issue
  (through your notes and pictures), so make sure you word your question
  carefully to accomplish this task. Indicate this thesis question on your
  second slide (the one after the title slide).
• Next, develop an ethical argument that addresses your
  question. Use the text and/or other academic sources to support your
  position. Build your argument by writing nine clear sentences. Each
  sentence should make one important point about the ethical aspects of
  the environmental issue you are analyzing and should be placed on one
  slide each.
• Underneath each slide, you will also add presentation
  notes. This is written information that you would normally say or share
  with an audience during a presentation, but they do not show up in the
  presentation. Your notes should also make use of at least two academic
  sources and elaborate on the image and sentence in each slide.
  • To add notes to your slide, go the section at the
    bottom of each slide in PowerPoint and click on the option that says
    “Click to add notes.” Type your notes into that section.
  • Make sure your presentation focuses on ethical
    arguments and avoids personal opinion, arguments based on politics,
    economics, religion, or topics other than ethics.
• Next, find a photo or image to illustrate each slide, and
  post it on the slide above the sentence. Search the Internet for photos
  or images that are appropriate. Make sure the photos or images you use
  are not copyright protected; you should only use photos or images that
  are in the public domain. Also, make sure you cite the sources from
  which you retrieved your photos or images directly underneath the photo
  on each slide.

The final PowerPoint slideshow should consist of 12 slides.
There should be one slide for the title page, one slide for your thesis
question, nine slides for your arguments (i.e., main sentences) and
notes, and one slide for your references. You should use at least two
academic sources in addition to the textbook as references. So you will
use a total of at least three academic sources. All citations and
references must be in the APA format as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

This assignment must be submitted as a PowerPoint
presentation. Other formats (e.g., PDF files, Word documents, etc.) are
not acceptable. If you are unfamiliar with how to use PowerPoint, see Basic tasks in PowerPoint 2010. You may also use the sample PowerPoint assignment
to guide you in preparing your assignment, but you may not use the
slides from that sample in your own work. The work you submit must be
completely original. Please also make sure that you refer to the
grading rubric for this assignment to ensure that your final work meets
all of the submission criteria for the final PowerPoint slideshow.

Who are the Nacirema? What do you think was Horace Miner’s intention in writing this piece? What can we learn about culture from reading about the Nacirema?

In their article entitled “We Are All Bystanders” Keltner and Marsh explain delve into why it is that sometimes, good people do nothing when bad things happen. What things contribute to the “bystander effect?” Have you ever been a bystander or a victim of the bystander effect? Explain.

Respond 1:
There is not much information or knowledge of origin of the Nacireman people, but they are Northern American who live in the middle of Canadian Creel the Yaqui and Tarahumare of Mexico. Horace Miner’s writing illustrates the Nacirema culture. He describes their beliefs, their rituals, their willingness and devotion. I think Miner’s intention on writing this piece was to show how different cultures can be. To me it seems outrageous and ignorant for the people to give gifts to the medicine men even after their practice are not working. (the holy-mouth men continue to do while their clients teeth keep decaying.)

As I see the differences of the Nacirema culture to American culture, there are some similarities I noticed. He states, ” There are ritual fasts to make fat people thin and ceremonial feasts to make thin people fat. Still other rites are used to make women’s breasts larger if they are small, and smaller if they are large.” ( Horace Miner 4) American culture we are fascinated with our bodies as well and if we can afford it would go to great lengths to get “the perfect body”. Many people get plastic surgery even after knowing the recovery will be painful just how the Nacirema would go through these painful rituals. We get breast reductions and breast augmentations just like the Nacirema society. I have learned that even though there are major differences in culture you can still find similarities that give you insight which can open your mind and think that maybe their culture isn’t as “outrageous” as you first thought. You build an understanding and appreciation of the differences instead of being quick to judge.

Respond 2:
I think the contributions to the bystander effect are sacred and lack of 　the awareness of emergency. According to the study, when people are in a group, they are less likely to help. And research goes further to state that with each person, individual feel less inclined to take actions. In the real society, many people would not like to help wounded people because they will frame a case against the person who want to help them. Therefore, because of a variety of reasons, many people would not like to help in public area.

Taking my own experience as an example, last summer, I was on a trip by bike riding. I was not clear about the roadmap while I was riding bike. As consequence, I fell over myself and no one helped me until I stood up by myself. This situation was like bystander effect. Even if stranger were around me and saw me, they still did not want to help me because no one did actions, and finally, no one helped me at the end.

The US has been affected by the frequent hailstorms. However, in this coming year hailstorms will not be the same as before. Hailstorms might become less frequent but more damageable because of climate change. As climate arises, the US will be suffered by lack of rain, and sometimes it rains, it tends to be heavier that can destroy human beings and buildings. Those severe hailstorms might cause billion-dollar disasters in a city within few years, and those disasters will be bigger and bigger.
Those severe hailstorms will make people spend a billion dollar to clean up disasters, and there will be many casualties too. To prevent this severe hailstorm what can people do?

Have you ever experienced an earthquake?

I am from Taiwan, Taiwan lies on the boundary between the Eurasian Plate and the Philippine Sea plate, which means we have a lot of earthquakes every year, some may cause damages very seriously. Make all the Taiwanese impressive’s one is the one happened on September 21, 1999, at 1:47 am, it killed more than 2,400 people, destroyed or damaged thousands of building and left an estimated 100,000 people homeless.

Earthquakes are the catastrophic phenomenon caused by abrupt shifts in the earth’s rock along fault lines, there is no way to prevent these occurrences, but we can try to minimize the damage, for example, better structures, and also prepared for the emergency bags, flashlight, etc…

Anyone had experienced earthquakes???
